The Balloon Web

I saw this spider in a strange web. It's hard to see, but the web was shaped like a balloon, and hollow inside. The spider sat inside. Being terrified of spiders, I snapped these from the safety of the car.

I Googled "small white spider with a balloon shaped web", and all I got was offers to take me on a hot air balloon ride.

Q: How do spiders communicate?
A: Through the world wide web.

I then went to google Images and searched small white spiders. The spiders they showed were huge, with fangs and ten eyes. I had to stop, because I will have nightmares tonight. Do YOU know what kind of spider this is?

I found this sweet little poem, and am SURE it does not apply to spiders.

“Hurt no living thing:
Ladybird, nor butterfly,
Nor moth with dusty wing.”
~Christina Georgina Rossetti

I googled balloon shaped spider webs and got all sorts of Halloween craft sites on how to make spider webs using paper mache and inflatable balloons. *LOL* I don't know what kind of spider this is but it's pretty. Spiders are really busy this time of year. I admire their instinct and work ethic. :-) Lovingly, Andrea xoxo

I don't like spiders and I don't like them spinning webs in my house. This is one interesting spider. I have not seen a web that looks like a balloon.

I have never seen anything like this. I tried to google it but the things I found didn't resemble what you have here. I didn't even see the spider at first. I thought it was part of the web. I would have taken the picture from far away too.

that big white thing to the left is not a spider, it is something that is caught in the web, the spider is to the right and down at the bottom.. I think it is a long leg sac spider. I went to identify VA spiders and this is maybe it
https://spiderid.com/spider/eutichuridae/cheiracanthium/mildei/ I think it is called ORB web

I'm not sure what kind of a spider that is but I find it fascinating and I probably would have gotten closer myself. It's those "jumping" spiders that scare me.

Considering all the things that can come up on Google, I would count this as a positive... ;-)

I find spiders, but especially their webs fascinating. On my granpa's farm I would watch them spin those intriquite designs....but if one of them crawls on me...Im screaming!

You took great photos of this little spider. The webbing is very interesting. I have always had a fascination for spiders. Now that's not to say I would want to have one crawling over me unexpectedly. You would never see me move so fast ;) but photographing them from your car was a smart idea :))
