Welcome to Rehobeth Mennonite Church, in the city of Schuyler (pronounced Skylar).
It is less than an hour away from us. And it is just down the road from the real house and museum of The Waltons, of the T.V. show. That was not their real last name, by the way. Their real name was Hamner.
Most of the church is covered with ivy. And you can see it's huge strong roots, embedded in the church. You might say it's a church with deep roots.

Soothing to the eyes, though..
WOW, it looks amazing. Someone obviously takes great care in keeping in trimmed back from the windows and doors.
Really amazing to see most of the church covered with ivy. I wonder whether the roots will harm the structure of the church.
Very attractive. The contrasting windows & door add to its charm.
So beautiful. I love church architecture and try to visit churches whenever I travel. Definitely one more to add to my list. Take care and stay well.

Wow, amazing!
I really like these deep roots.
I have never seen anything like it.
That is so interesting! So Hamner, I remember that name... the author's name. I loved The Waltons! Can you go inside the church? Maybe that's a dumb question...>>? lol
That church building is just so breath taking. I knew that about the Walton's - I love that show. And the roots of that ivy blows my mind!
Love this look of this church :)
I don't think I have ever seen so much ivy on a building. Amazing and definitely Deep Roots...
Unbelievable ! It is beautiful though.
Oh Ginny, what gorgeous pictures!!! Rich history!! My son & I went to a Mennonite Church for a few years, back in the early 2000s. Our oldest daughter went to a Mennonite college and married a Mennonite man whose family is steeped in Mennonite culture in Ohio. They're "new order" and not "old order" but many of the beliefs and mannerisms are still the same. Stay safe, my friend. Love, Andrea XOXO
