We got a very unique Christmas card today. The clothes in this nativity scene are made from banana plant bark! They are sold to help poor families in Haiti earn money.

What a beautiful card. So much the nicer that it goes to help those in need. Many years ago my step-son, who was in the coast guard at the time, was one of the first ships into Haiti after the big hurricanes hit there. He was about 19 at the time and it was a big eye-opener for him.
It's beautiful and I love that they help those in need. I've been to Haiti, it's very sad how impoverished they are.

Beautiful! I Learned so much about Haiti in the 1970's and 80's from my friend Dawn. She and her husband lives there and I always enjoyed all her stories. I worked with an ENT/Plastic Surgeon who was a devout Catholic and an amazing sculptor. He spent countless hours in Haiti repairing children in need of cleft palate surgery. He donated so much of his time and I believe that it why he was so extremely successful. He enoucraged the dr. I worked with to donate his time but that guy's wife was so busy spending his millions before they hit the bank she would not allow him to do anything for free. So very sad.
