Cheddar Man is the oldest skeleton ever found in Britain, 10,000 years old! Named after the Cheddar area where he was discovered. They recently made a perfect model of his skull with a 3-D printer, and got DNA results from a bone in his head. Armed with these things, they had two skull artists recreate his head. His DNA said what color his skin and eyes were, and the color and texture of his hair. Most people found the unusual results shocking (pale blue eyes with dark skin). Here is the closest we we have to what a man looked like 10,000 years ago.

I am skeptical. Yes, DNA doesn't lie, but science is just theory. Never exact.
OK! I understand that the face shape is easy to make according to the shape of the skull, but how did they know the color of the eyes?

I was thinking along the same lines as Anni and Ella. This is pretty fascinating but beyond being able to recreate the shape of his face I wonder just how accurate the rest of the information really is.
At least he looks happy. My daughter and youngest son have bright blue eyes.

odd that he looks very much like a man looks today.. unlike the photos and paintings of men several hundred years ago, this one looks modern. it really looks quite realistic

Interesting, the *shocking* blue eyes, with the dark skin. Shows interbreeding, I would surmise. And the source of those blue eyes, it seems, had to be a lighter color skin.
Very interesting. I sort of like his face. I learned that only seven percent of the world's population have blue eyes (74 percent in Sweden), so the fact that he would have had blue eyes is pretty amazing.
