Glass Houses

Glass block is very thick glass in block shapes. It gives privacy, while letting in a lot of light. Many don’t like it because it is very heavy, and expensive. Plus it is now considered to be dated. We came across these at a college, and it was perfect to try out some camera effects.

"People who live in glass houses... have to answer the door."

Nice to look at and not so practical especially in my country, we must have grills on the outside to make it difficult for intruders to "drop by." LOL..

Even though they are thick and heavy, I feel lacking in privacy. This won't need any painting, just wipe and its clean.

Very cool pictures. They may be dated but they're still attractive in my book

In my last house there was a really old window in the bathroom, and it had to be replaced, so I opted for glass block and was very happy with the result. It let in light but provided complete privacy.

Love those effects! I do like glass block in certain areas, like basement windows! Not sure about a huge window or a wall, though!

I love The Glass House quote! I laughed out loud because we don't answer our door unless we know the person. I'll have to remember that! The photos are beautiful and I happen to be a fan of glass squares like this I've seen some really beautiful ones and our YMCA has several walls like this and yes they are dated but I like David and it makes me mad when people think things are pretty because they're not fresh and new inventions I love old things. The photos are gorgeous

I was just admiring a modern building that had used glass blocks as part of their decoration. It was used in our old school to fill in big drafty windows. Fun photos.
