To answer your question about the Norwegian food, yes there was a lot of it.
Fresh ham which is a uncured pork leg
a cabbage dish which I don't know the proper name for, homemade sausage korv, and many desserts that I can't pronounce either.
We also have the tradition of rice pudding which has an almond hidden in one cup. Everyone tries to guess who has it and the winner gets a prize.
