Chicken Tender

Meet Blossom; a hen that is known as "spent". A spent laying hen means it has started it's first molt and will not lay for awhile. So they are destroyed at this point.

And now meet this wonderful lady in Missouri, who rescues them and keeps them on her land to live out their life. Blossom likes people better than other hens, and is very loving.

The name of her organization is Second Hen. She has to hold fundraisers to pay for the upkeep of the hens. So...she has come up with these cool posters.

Fluffy was asked to say a few words on the news, but would only cluck her approval.

Yellow

Remember awhile ago when you identified a Star Magnolia Tree for me? I had no idea there were different kinds of Magnolia trees! And now I have seen another one, a yellow Magnolia!

“I am always surprised by the magnolia. She is so queenly, so Southern, so unassuming. And then she opens up and shows her true colors.”

“The magnolia is a flower of contradictions: strong and elegant, shy and showy, delicate but hardy.”

Screening

Every day, I get a new photo on my computer home screen. So I thought I would start showing you some of my favorites. This week so far, these are two that I like. One is an explosion of color, and the other is a sweet nature photo.

Dripping

The Wisteria are blooming now, and absolutely dripping with gorgeous lavender blooms.

Can you see the bumblebee?

Wisteria! Liquid floods of flowers
Shake softly down exultant showers,
And in the purple-deluged air
The sweetness seems to swoon and bear
My senses on a tide of dreams.

Happy Monday

The Happy Van is back! I think I may have posted other photos of it awhile ago, but we just saw it again!

Part 2 - Just Peachy

Here is the last half of our visit to the peach orchard.

There were quite a few people there taking pictures.

One last look as we drive away.

You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there's still going to be somebody who hates peaches.

Just Peachy Part I

The peach trees are in bloom now! We drove up to the orchard to see them, they are spectacular. No peaches on them quite yet, though. So let's start with driving around the bend and our first looks.

An apple is an excellent thing -- until you have tried a peach.

I love bald men. Just because you've lost your fuzz don't mean you ain't a peach.
