Eye Of The Tiger

The Tiger Lilies are in bloom now!

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright,
In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies,
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?

And what shoulder, & what art,
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand? & what dread feet?

When the stars threw down their spears,
And water’d heaven with their tears,
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?

Dinner & A Movie

Last week, we went to dinner with the girls, then took them to see "Moana". It was like old times to have all three of them, as Anne has been at college for a couple years. Chick-Fil-A had these cow balloons.

Then it was off to the theater.

This was a reflection on the floor.

And here are a few shots from the movie.

“It’s called wayfinding, princess… knowing where you are by knowing where you’ve been.”

A Dragonfly & A Cockatiel

In the grocery store, I was delighted to see these balloons. I have never seen a Dragonfly balloon before!

I have this photo in a book of a Dragonfly's eyes seen microscopically.

Many dragonflies have up to 30,000 lenses per eye.

They also had this cute Cockatiel.

·         Dragonflies are aerial predators with about 3,000 known species

·         They’re incredibly fast, reaching ~35 mph and even flying backward.

·         Dragonflies are older than dinosaurs, and used to be the size of birds

·         In Indonesia, dragonflies are considered to be a delicious snack.

The World Cup

Did you watch the World Cup? I did for a bit, just to see the spectacle. And here are the coolest, courtesy of my couch and the T.V.

And the trophy

I thought the back of Jennifer Hudson's dress was prettier than the front

And of course, Kermit & Miss Piggy!

Such Great Heights

Back to the Tall Ships again.

Do you see what I see? The men are standing and balancing on the yardarms!

Oy! I can't even figure out how they got up there, much less how they can balance with all the wind.

I think I would either vomit all over the ship or fall in the sea and be eaten by sharks. These are brave men! It does look like they have safety belts of some kind. Nevertheless...

There are three ominous sounds that will always chill your heart: the creak of chains on a pirate ship, the clink of spurs in a ghost town, and the flap of bat wings in the night. – William R. Bradford

So Tall

On the 4th of July, we loved watching the Tall Ships on T.V. I took a few photos. O.K., a lot of photos. But they were so majestic!

This was my favorite

And there was something that really surprised me about the ships. It kind of stunned me to see it. Do you know what it may be? You will in my next post.

Visions In A Larkspur Yard

Our next-door neighbors have had this flag out for the summer. They also have some lovely Larkspur. Here is Mr. Squirrel on their birdfeede...
