Walking The Dog

Walking your dog in our neighborhood in the fall can be beautiful.

And sometimes it can be an actual adventure. Behold a Blue Heron we came upon.

The Heron attempted to walk across the road.

At the same time this man was walking his dog.

By now the dog's tongue was out.

Both Phil & I, the man & his dog, and the Heron were frozen for awhile. Then with a massive wingspread, the Heron took to the sky and flew out of sight. Just as well for the dog.

"From the dog's point of view, his master is an elongated and abnormally cunning dog." ~Mabel Louise Robinson

"My goal in life is to be as good of a person my dog already thinks I am." ~Author Unknown

Looks like the Heron is going for a walk as well as the dogs

That's some hill there, makes for quite a work out. I can't imagine what Gibbs would do if we came across a heron while we were out for a walk. I know there would be a lot of barking.

Love the Robinson quote. And GREAT photos. The last few days it's felt like winter here...I could really go for some Fall hikes 'bout now, with scenes like you share.

we may have the only dog in the world that pays no attention to birds in the road. the hawk sat down 20 feet from him, a flock of 24 Ibis in the yard, pays no attention. the backyard squirrel I saved from the hawk, comes down on the ground and Big just watches him, he was 5 feet from his nose. we were amazed. wish he felt like that about cats. I love the views of your streets here and showed them to bob, all our streets are flat as a pancake. he talks about streets in PA like these streets. a beautiful place to walk

Love your "Story". The heron is such a majestic bird...great capture.
Our Granddogger would have been barking her head off...protecting us from that dangerous bird.
Love the quotes too.

Beautiful photos, Ginny as well as beautiful quotes. I sure miss my dog Jack, he would have ran toward the heron, though he was small, he acted like he was huge!
Blessings,
Sue

I thought they were beach birds - why are they by you? Would that dog attacked it? Glad he got away!

Lovely scenery. I can't get over how approachable the Blue Heron was. Around here they would be gone at the first movement of anyone.

That's a popular place for dog walking, but what a lovely place it is and those trees are gorgeous. Neat that you saw the Great Blue Heron. Is there a lake nearby? Great post and always enjoy your quotes. Thanks Ginny :)
