The Forever Stamp

"He annointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come." 2 Cor. 1:22

Today I used my last Forever Stamp. Now they are history and the confusion begins. I have a fit with postage stamps, because they raise the prices really frequently. We have a drawer with lots of stamps, all with different prices, and I have no idea which is the current one to use! I could just pick out the higest priced one, but then what if they have raised the price since we bought it? I understand that the post office needs to raise the prices, but why put the price on the stamp? This serves no purpose at all. I don't need to know how much I paid for it, I need to know if it's still a current stamp. So my suggestion is that the post office take a cue from the grocery stores. Instead of the price, put the expiration date on the stamp!! Long ago, groceries used to have prices on them, till prices started to change so often. So now they just have expiration dates. A while ago, they sold Forever Stamps for a short time. You bought them, and they were good forever, no matter how many times the prices changed after that. But now I've used them all up. Did you know that God gives us a Forever Stamp? He already paid the price for us, which will never be raised. He has maked us as his own with this stamp, and we are signed, sealed, and DELIVERED. Guaranteed. We are marked as the children of God. And unlike the post office, which only sold these stamps for a short time, God's stamp is always waiting for us to accept it. All because of his great love for us.

"And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possesion-to the praise of his glory." Ephesians 1:13,14

I have stamps of all denominations in a folder. Some are 34 Cents, 37 cents, five cents, three cents, one cent, and some forever stamps. I never seem to come out even.

Now they have some really neat Humane Society stamp coming out April 30, with dogs and cats on them. I'll have to have some of them too.

Oh Ginny..that was funny! I shouldn't be laughing but it was so slick the way you just weaved that in there!! ha ha. I love it, and some favorite verses too!
No kidding about the stamps..I mean, who wants to wait in line so they can add more (which you'd have to find out) right?

You are right: even stamps have become complicated!

I'm glad Christ paid the price for us - once and for all!

You asked how I did the butterfly wings. I download my pics into a program called Picasa, which you can download free off the internet. I cropped one of my butterfly pics that I already had.

Have a good rest of the week!

Great post, Ginny.... I like how you tied the word "Forever" into a stamp and also into God. I'm so thankful that God is mine FOREVER....

You can buy more Forever Stamps now... You just have to pay the current price (44 cents) for them---but they can be used FOREVER (until you run out again and have to buy some more)... ha

Hugs,
Betsy

I just love the way you build up the word of God in your posts. I always know that somehow you will work the Word into whatever it is you are posting about. It is such a pleasure. And, I thank God daily for blessing me with His forever.

Although I like God's Forever stamp, you should know that you can still by Forever stamps from the Post Office. They cost more (44¢) than they did when they first went on sale, but they will be good 'forever'. I make sure my parents have forever stamps so they won't have to worry about coming with the correct postage.

Clever post. We have forever stamps for letters within Sweden but not for letters to other countries.

I have all sorts of stamps but I separate them in envelopes. I keep a supply of one cent stamps so I can use up the older ones.

You commented about the empty streets on my post today. The stores were open and there were actually a lot of people on the street that day. I stood there for a long time waiting until I had a clear shot, I probably had ten seconds before more folks walked by. The things we do to get a photo!
