First Day Of School!

"Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants." Deut. 32:2

Today was a very big day for the two 4 year old girls in our lives. The first day of school!! For my new followers, the first two pictures are our granddaughter Anne Marie, and the second two pictures are Ella, the lttle girl we have watched almost since birth, who is like our second granddaughter. That is me with Anne Marie, in her backyard this evening. Her favorite part of school is snack, just like me! I somehow don't think she'll have a problem with school as long as they provide tasty food. Little Ella is very verbal, and her complaint was that the teacher wouldn't let her talk, and the day was too long. She was so exhausted from her new experience that when she got here, she spread out her blanket on the floor and tried to sleep, but she was just too hungry for lunch. Here is a teacher that knows what we need before we even ask, and gives us unlimited chances to get the answers right. As long as he is our teacher, we always get a passing grade. No sweat.

"Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my savior, and my hope is in you all day long...He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way. All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful for those who keep the demands of his covenant." Psalm 25:4,5 9,10

What dear little girls, Ginny. I'll bet they keep you young too. Since they are four, are they in pre-school or are we talking kindergarten and they haven't reached five yet? I started school at four too as I was a November baby.

Nyssa loved preschool and when kindergarten came, she wouldn't even let me walk her in. She was a "big" girl and could find her class on her own. Come to think of it, she still has that independent streak.

Poor Ella, how hard it is when you are bubbling over with things to say..... these two are both just too cute for words.

Yes, I could tell school started here yesterday.... the streets were empty and strangely silent all day.

That quote from Deuteronomy,
"Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants." is becoming my prayer. As I attempt to teach the Bible each Sunday I do want the time to count for good. The young ones starting out are very special and deserve the best from a teacher. This Friday is Grandparents day at our grand-daughter Chloe's school.

Thank you, thank you for posting the photos of Ella. Bless her heart. I'll bet she wanted to suck that thumb all morning. Did she sleep? I was hoping that she would for you. I talked to her a little bit last night.

This brought back such great memories of my first day of school! Every year I was soooo excited. Until maybe the last few years, then I wasn't quite as excited. ;o)

Hi Ginny, School is so exciting for young pupils. I will be praying that both girls just love their teacher, school, and learning! I am a retired teacher and used to teach grades K-2 (mostly First Grade) at a medium sized Christian School in Southern CA. Have a super good day!

These are cute pictures of both girls. Anne Marie obviously has her priorities straight! Hopefully Ella will find school more enjoyable once she gets used to it.

How fortunate for all of you to be a part of each others lives ...

And regarding the young geese you asked about ... I'm not sure how old they are before they are on their own.

My younger daughter is off to her first year of college. . .She's doing well and I am very very proud of her. But it is SO different from those days when I just had to adjust to her running up the sidewalk to an elementary school ten blocks away. . .so wish I could post the pic or her running, with her best friend, up to the door for their first day of kindergarten.
