Up, Up And Away

The world's a nicer place in my beautiful balloon
It wears a nicer face in my beautiful balloon
We can sing a song and sail along the silver sky
For we can fly, we can fly
Up, up and away in my beautiful balloon

Come along with me and my family to the hot air balloon festival, and sit with my granddaughter and me as we watch. I promise that you'll be uplifted. You see, I've put the summer in these balloons, and now we will watch it fly away together. The breathless excitement, the color, the children running in fields, the smell of fresh cut grass, tall icy glasses of lemonade, all flying away for another year. But this is a very good flight, because we are here to see it, and to feel and smell the beauty of fall, and perhaps even dance in the leaves and drink hot cider. And because no matter where we may fly away to, we will always be found and loved.

If to heaven's heights I fly
you are still beside me
Or in death's dark shadows lie
you will stay close by me
If I flee on morning wings
far across the grey sea
even there your hand will lead
Your right hand will guide me.

How fun! I would have loved to be there with you! But, I would have wanted to get a hot air balloon ride. That is my wish before I kick the bucket - to ride in one of those big beauties...

So colorful and pretty! It sounds like you had fun with your cute little grand daughter there :-)

Your grand daughter, how is she related to you? I mean is she adopted?

I have never been this near to a hot air balloon.

Some hard working women do make their own mooncakes, especially the snow kin types.

I've only been in one once and I'd like to go again. What I noticed the most? The Silence up there.

It seems the time of year for hot air balloons. My daughter told me of the sights in the sky over Reno, NV as well. Just beautiful.

These balloons are fascinating. I used to love watching them rise over the plains of the Masai Mara. I think though, that I would rather be going up in a Cessna! ☺

What a sweet child :-). I'll wager she never lacks for hugs. You asked about the clafoutis...it's a bit like a Yorkshire pudding but not as airy or pocked. They are really delicious, but most versions are meant for dessert. The batter used to make them looks like pancake batter. It's poured over fruit or soft vegetables and baked. It puffs, a bit like a souffle. I think they are best served warm or at room temperature. I hope you are having a great day. Blessings...Mary

I love the idea of putting summer in the balloon. Very sweet. And you two look very happy to be there bidding it farewell.

I love hot air balloons but i don't think I'd be brave enough to fly away with one.

Oh Ginny... those are awesome. I always wanted to see hot air baloon festival here in Maine but Hubby too busy to bring me and I don't want to drive to Lewiston for that because I know I will have a hard time parking. I suspect that is the reason also why Hubby seemed to be busy when that festival comes up. hahahaha. Your photos are really amazing but i love the first one of course.

Love the brilliant colors of the balloons! Looks like fun to take a ride in one, but I don't think I'm that brave! I'm sure it was a fun, memorable time for you and your cute granddaughter.

Your granddaughter is too cute for words!! Oh my goodness. What a darling girl!

Thanks so much for your wonderful comments on my blog--I'm sorry to hear you had panic attacks too! But I'm glad they've gotten better (though I guess it's a toss-up whether psychological or physiological problems are worse, right?)

That looks like such a lovely, peaceful afternoon.
