Shine On, Harvest moon

There are nights when the wolves are silent and only the moon howls - George Carlin

My intrepid canine buddy Remington alerted me to the fact that there was a full Harvest Moon the other night. I missed it, but took some pictures of it the next night. It is called the Harvest Moon because this month there is the least amount of time between the setting sun and the rising moon, giving farmers of times past some extra light to do their harvest with. I think last night was one of those nights when the moon howled.

"When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor." Psalm 8:3,5

Stunning moon shots Ginny.
We are having a great time with Bev. Sightseeing and yaking has filled our days. We love having her here.

Very stunning photos - and background of deep space. Just love being out of the city in the darkness of the countryside somewhere to get the full effect of the heavens at night! What an awesome God we have! He decorates the sky like that even though many of us are asleep and miss the whole show!

Hello Ginny, Boy the moon photos are just great! I love this time of year. We live out where there are no street lights and the moon this week has really brightened up our place!

I see the moon, the moon sees me.
Down through the leaves of the old oak tree.
Please let the light that shines on me
Shine on the one I love!

I always suspected it. Now I know for sure. The moon is made of cheddar cheese. About the cucumbers. The long seedless variety works well for pickles. The kirby, which is perfect for pickling is about 4-inches long and has skin that can sometimes appear to be warty. The kirby, because of its size, makes a perfect pickle. Have a great day. Blessings...Mary

God did create a most beautiful world! He made the moon to rule the night and the sun to rule the day. You captured the beauty of the moon in your pictures! Great photo work.

What a gorgeous moon, Ginny. Inevitably, when I am driving, THAT is when I see such a moon. I've been known to pull to the side of the road to photographic it but must admit, that is not very smart.

No - no more tutorials on the horizon. But - that doesn't mean there won't be. I realized the sunflowers were a first for me and like all first, I'm nervous when following directions. I am always helped by photos and really explicit directions. I figured the same might be said for others, hence, my tutorial. I hope it won't be my last. It was as much fun doing the project as it was to put the tutorial together.

Hugs,
Annie

amazing photos, I always know it's a full moon 'cause I can't sleep, I think this was a double whammy being a harvest moon as well.

Hi There, Beautiful moon pictures... As you know we were hoping to see a Moonbow at Cumberland Falls on Friday night---but that was the ONLY night all weekend long that was CLOUDY...Darn--we'll have to go back. We saw a gorgeous Harvest Moon on Thursday night --but we weren't at the falls then.... Sigh!!!!

We don't have dogs, my husband doesn't like them, and we used to travel a lot during our 16 years in Singapore, so it wasn't very convenient.

But when I was a kid, mum and dad always had dogs. We kept them as watch dogs.

Do you have a dog or a cat?
