Teeny Tiny Dwarves

Look what I found in the pet store! What do you think they are? NO, these are NOT mice!

These are Chinese Dwarf Hamsters! They are native to China and are only two inches long! They are very playful, and love to cling onto your finger with all four paws. They are so tiny that they will escape from a cage, and must be kept inside glass or plastic.

The name Hamster comes from a word that means "to stack". They stack food in their expanding cheek pouches. Can you see in the next two pictures how their cheeks are puffed out with food?

Oops, he has spotted himself in the glass. I'm afraid he will be looking at himself for quite some time. Bye bye little guy.

“And let God bless all who fear God— bless the small, bless the great.”

Psalm 115

This brought back memories of when my kids were little - we had those things - bigger ones - and they were NOT friendly at all - lol.

So teeny tiny and so cute.... I'm scared of mice, so I know that I probably would not be a good one to house these little creatures....

They are so tiny! And cute. They remind me of mice, tho, so I wouldn't take one home. :)

they are so cute. Reminds me of when we had gerbils when my son was little. We got the cage that had a bunch of tubes with it. I forgot that they would probably pee in the tubes.. Ha ha guess who got stuck cleaning the thing most of the time.

These little hamsters are quite adorable. I always think of the movie Fifle, (I think that is how it is spelled. )
