These are special homes for Purple Martins. Here is what I read about them:
The purple martin is the largest North American swallow. They
are known for their speed and agility in flight, and when approaching their
housing, will dive from the sky at great speeds with their wings tucked in.

It would be interesting to watch these swallows diving from the sky at great speed when they are approaching their homes in great numbers.
I've seen a lot of these bird houses around here but I have never actually seen a purple martin.

I've seen lots of houses for purple martins, but never any quite this modern-looking. You got good pictures of the birds themselves.
Reminded me of the song, Country Roads! They are really blue ridged mountains...
I LOVE these little birds....they are gorgeous when you look at them close, too. Besides all the insects they catch...

I’ve never seen bird house like theses. They look really great! I’d love to see Purple Martins diving from the sky at full speed :-)
