Ruth's Peonies

Our friend Ruth has dedicated her life to her flowers. Especially her huge peonies. Her flower garden  was always beautiful and well tended by her.  But awhile back, she had to move into a retirement home. The people who bought her home cared nothing for flowers, and destroyed them all. It breaks her heart. But she saved a few and planted them at the retirement home. She is now in the hospital with several fractures from falling, but all she talks about are her saved peonies. I will take her these pictures tomorrow.

“And the wind upon it’s way

Whispered the boughs of May

And touched the nodding peony flowers

To bid them waken.”

They are beautiful Ginny. Perhaps you could take one of them to hospital for her.

WOW, those are beautiful. How sad that the people who bought her house didn't take care of the flowers. I'm not good at planting things but if I had flowers that someone else had planted for me I would certainly enjoy them and take care of them.

they are stunning and I have never seen them just like these, the two colors with a border. wow.. so glad she can see them and so sad they died at her house. if they were at my house they would die also. I have a black thumb.

These are gorgeous! I'm glad Ruth was able to save some of her peonies from the sale of her house. I hope she is out of the hospital soon.

What a sad story. So glad you will bring her pictures of these gorgeous flowers. Let her know how much your blogger friends enjoyed them too.

There is no accounting for not appreciating the beauty that surrounds us. The new homeowners clearly were not interested at all, not even to bring a gardener in to maintain the garden for them. I'm sorry your friend had to see it's demise. That's the problem with moving. You never know what will happen next. A friend back home sent me photos last week of our old California home and I was very relieved to see that our tree, which we grew from a sapling, was still there guarding the house and making a home for birds.

It breaks my heart - for her and for the people who don't appreciate beauty.

Sorry I haven't checked in in a few days - it was Andy's graduation and we had company.

I am so happy that she was able to save o few of those peonies. It is sad that as we get older we have to give up so much of our former life. Some things or people we have no choice about, but others we get to make some very hard choices.
