The Fisher

Looks like we found a headless bird!

Not really. What we did find is a fisher bird. An Osprey that we saw a few days ago.

Ospreys eat fish. They fly above the water, then swoop down and grab the fish with their big claws. It is great fun to watch, especially when they catch a big fish.

"They were fishing, throwing their nets into the lake. It was their regular work. Jesus said to them, “Come with me. I’ll make a new kind of fisherman out of you. I’ll show you how to catch men and women instead of perch and bass.” They didn’t ask questions, but simply dropped their nets and followed."

Matthew 4

we have many osprey here, there are 3 large nests on the lightpoles at the park where bob flies his planes, and many others all over the city. Florida has water everywhere, they thrive here. it is amazing to watch them fish. I once watched the dad fly in with a fish and hand it off to the mom and she stripped off pieces of fish and fed to the babies. talk about amazing

Fantastic photos! We had ospreys nesting in the bayou behind Gulf Coast Research Lab where I worked. They returned every year. Since Katrina, then retirement lost track of them. They and their babies were fascinating.
