Sun Spots

Have you ever seen one of these? They are called Sun Dogs. I don't like that name, so I call them Sun Spots. And that is what they are, not a rainbow, but a Sun Spot. We see them quite frequently. They are made from tiny ice crystals high up in the sky, and occur on either or both sides of the sun when it is low..

Don't miss all the beautiful colors of the rainbow looking for that pot of gold.

Thank you for commenting about my concerns over covid and also the anniversary picture. I am envious... Afton Mt. what scenery you must have! I am hours away from you. Between Petersburg and Norfolk in a place called Suffolk. Ever hear of it?

I never really knew about sun spots. I would just think it was part of the sunrise or sunset in the skies. It DOES look a bit like a rainbow, and your photos look like a painting, so pretty. I really like all the quotes you share at the end of your posts too, and I think I remember this one. : )

Terrific capture.
We don't see them very often here but I would sure love to be in the right place at the right time to do so.
