Redneck Fishing
Did you know there is a yearly Redneck Fishing Tournament? Yes, this is the real name of it! It takes place on a river in Illinois. Every person gets one big net. The speed boats stir up the water and make the invasive Asian Carp jump out. The object is to catch the most Carp in your net. Asian Carp are not native to here, and have been causing a lot of damage. There is a cash prize for the winner, too. I took these photos from the news on T.V.

This yearly fishing tournament is a good project to reduce the number of invasive carps in the river. I can see the participants having great fun netting the carps.
So this is redneck fun with a purpose :) The guy in the first picture sure looks like he's enjoying himself. Nice that they can find a way to reduce the number of those fish/
Love, love, LOVE that quote. The point of the tournament, I assume, is to get rid of the invasive species?!
They sure look like they are having a blast! I've heard that quote before. It's pretty funny and very true!
This sounds like a fun way to get rid of some of the invasive fish.
That's funny... and those pictures!! *haha* Yes, Asian carp are awful, from what I've heard. They've been doing a lot of damage in Lake Michigan, in these parts, for many years. I still have a problem with killing them tho, as it's not their fault they're destructive... they're just living in a way with how God made them. But I surely understand how they can't be left to cause all that problem either. ~Andrea xoxoxo
Looks like the folks are having fun.
You gotta be kidding me... a redneck fishing tournament. And, that quote is just priceless.
I'm wondering if the Asian carp is the one that practically jumps into the net? I saw a video with these fish jumping into the nets and it was creepy.
Invasive species have to go and whatever way they can try and cut down is fine, plus they do look like they are having fun. I wonder if the Asian carp is any good to eat or just too many bones?
I have heard Asian Carp are nasty fish! I hope they do not find a way to Wisconsin!!!
I thought red neck fishing was in the south! lol
Oh my goodness, this is funny. So many invasive things happening in our world. I suppose trying to keep the rivers from being overlaoded with invaders is a good thing.
Someone I know was having their lawn invaded by armyworms. They are quite destructive. Crazy stuff. Thanks for sharing with us.
hahaha... I like your quote! indeed Internet will keep us busy not just weeks, whole year round... I used to think back how I managed to survive during the younger days when there was no wifi or phones and yet life was interesting too!!
A good way of reducing the numbers of an invasive species. Loved the quote also.
Never heard of that event before, but I guess it's a way to have fun with a purpose.
