To continue my story of our Labor Day weekend, after my knee was doing better and the computer fixed, we headed to Whole Foods. I wanted to shop around, and my husband Phil loves the fruit. In the above picture, you see the tall bins of onions, which were stacked way too high. And someone had carelessy put a carton of strawberries in among the onions, as you can see. As I was choosing an onion, a gigantic one from the very top came hurtling down and landed on my foot. This was the biggest onion I had ever seen in my life, and weighed about as much as a bowling ball. I screamed and doubled over in pain. "I think the onion broke my foot!" I said through tears to my husband. At this point, he picked up the carton of berries and said, "Hey, nice strawberries!" Now really crying and my foot throbbing, I wailed that I believed one of the tiny bones in the top of my foot may be broken. His reply, "Oh, well, I'm just sayin' they're really pretty..." then, quickly sensing he may be in trouble, he hurriedly dropped the strawberries. No, I didn't scold him at all, because he had actually made me laugh through my pain. Here are the offending strawberries, do you think they were worth it? If you would have seen us leaving Whole Foods on that balmy night, you would have seen me hanging onto Phil and limping while he pushed a cart in which one bag was filled with onions and strawberries. The Israelites in the desert would have loved it, as they soon got really sick of the food that God gave them. They wanted onions, as well.
"We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost - also the cucumbers, melon, leeks, onions and garlic. But now we have lost our appetite; we never see anything but this manna!"

They are really nice strawberries!
Oh my, what a weekend! But the strawberries really DO look nice.
As for that mailbox.. I think the names of the Old Lady's children are on that plaque...
What a weekend you had Ginny!
We have Whole Foods near us and it is one of my favorite places to browse through.
They have a great selection of teas too!
Hope you feel better soon.
Well at least Phil rescued the strawberries from the onions. Those are huge onions, I'll bet that did hurt when it hit your foot.
You have had quite a weekend Ginny, hopefully the coming week will be less painful.
Hope your foot feels better. All that photo of the strawberries needs is whip cream on top!
Our trip to Whole Foods over the weekend was painless! Poor you! You certainly didn't need any added pain. I hope the offending onion at least brought some pleasure to the table! I also hope you don't now have s sore foot. Included in my bag from Whole Foods was a huge onion. It was hard for me to slice for our hamburgers yesterday. I'll bet it was from the same onion patch. Here's a question for you: Do onions grow in patches??
Best,
Bonnie
bring on the berries and leave the onions, i only buy one a week and that is for hubby who likes them on his sandwich. YUCK. i don't do onions. to funny we both had berry experiences on shopping day. I am glad i did not get an onion dropped on me and sorry it fell on you. the good thing is, even if it broke a little bone, they dont do andything for that, it heals by itself. now don't you feel much better? did you buy the container that was sitting in the onions, the onion taste might be on the berries. that is one of my soap box pet peeves. peopel who sit things back where they don't belong. i once found ice cream sitting on the display of toliet tissue. WHY is my question
Hope your foot is healing from the onion assault! A heavy one falling from 3 or 4 feet would be painful for sure! Love your pic of the strawberries - delicious! Have yourself a better week and be blessed!
Those beautiful strawberrys made me hungry! lol
I sure hope you're foot and You are doing better!!!
Blessings & Big Hug,
Coreen

I love strawberries, and these really look nice, but I'm not sure they are worth an onion attack. Did you include the offending onion in the ones you bought?
Thanks to years of running to and from hospitals, I've learned how critical it is to inject humor wherever we can. You described that moment in the grocery with such clarity - and I'll keep it in mind next time I find myself either experiencing my own health issues or being there for those of a family member.
Here's to only good health for you, Ginny. And lots of strawberries!
Lol..classic Ginny, and it had to be you! Amazing, what a huge onion.. poor thing! Well I hope those strawberriers cooled you off-What a nice assortment!
Yeah, but that manna from Heaven never landed on your foot with the force of a bowlin' ball! Ouch, I hope your OK.
Ya'll have a beautifully blessed day and I'm thrilled your knee is better!
Ginny, you make me smile in the midst of your calamities ... that's a gift. Hope your foot is better.
Produce shopping can be a dangerous ordeal - hope your foot is better...keep it up!
I love onions and strawberries...in fact, I love all fruits and veggies (except very few that I can do without: i.e. okra and turnips to mention a couple)
I hope you had a nice Labor Day weekend!
What an amazing assortment! And those strawberries look very pretty indeed!!
I surely hope, by now your pain has totally vanished and you are already up and kicking:)
Best wishes,
Arti
Wii is a good idea where you have long cold winter.
Our console came with bowling, golf, tennis, golf, boxing and tennis.
My daughter is going to get me the exercise one.
After played for a week, I prefer tennis as it is the most realistic game. The boxing, very often, the gloves don't go to the direction you want to. But for a quick workout, boxing is fun.
With your knee, you might go slow when you are playing tennis, just play with your hands, and not bend too much.
Is there a cure, or do you need injections all the time?
The photo about the dog is at a very popular park.
As for school, people take their dogs when they send their children to school. Before, they even brought them into the school compound.
Then one day, a dog bit a child. the principal banned dogs from entering the school. But people tie their dogs on the rails outside the footpath. I don't like it, because some young kids are afraid of the dogs, and the have to walk on the muddy grass verge because the dog is sitting right in the middle of the footpath.
Do you think the manna was so bland that's maybe why the children longed for onions, leeks and garlic? ☻
My sympathies about the pain, Ginny! I know how hard it is sometimes to get through to the surrounding world that when you're already in pain, it often does not take much to cause a lot more of it...! Those strawberries look good... And the Bible quote is very apt. I'm afraid I would probably have fit right in among those Israelites. I can well imagine that if I had only had one thing to eat day in and day out, I would probably soon be grumbling for a taste of something different as well. (Sorry, God.)
Am glad that you are feeling better now and your knee is doing good. Those onions are awesome and i love the strawberries... all year round.
