I'm No Dummy

"There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can suceed against the Lord." Proverbs 21:30

Several years ago, I went with my husband and a friend to tour the Crash Test Center, better known as "The Insurance Institute For Highway Safety Vehicle Research Center". This is where they crash all the cars to determine how safe they are. Home of the original Crash Test Dummy. I do NOT like the picture of me with my friend in front of the dummies, but I weighed considerably more back then. These dummies are amazing. There is a whole family of them, from a large daddy to a three month old baby. The dummies mimic the movement of a real human body in a crash and record what the injuries would be. They have a complex spinal column, and 25 to 40 sensors to record forces on each body part. So these dummies are pretty smart, after all. Sometimes one who appears to be a dummy can really surprise you.

"Do not deceive yourselves. If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age, he should become a "fool" so that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight." 1 Cor. 3:18

These dummies should go on a road trip and educate esp young drivers.

How's your weather like now?

"25 to 40 sensors to record forces on each body part". Wow.. too bad high school students don't have it (maybe they do) incorporated into their D. E.? Well I always found this interesting. At least you could visit and get a better grasp of what this entails! Very worthwhile-

That's a lot of very smart dummies in one place. This would have been a fascinating exhibit to visit, thanks for sharing Ginny.

Very educational visit! I'd probably not want to drive again seeing these in action! It's always important to watch out for the other dummy who can do such unexpected things while you've been doing the right thing.

I didn't even know there was such a place. Now that's one more spot on the earth I'd like to visit.

Smart dummies.... smarter than the "dumb smarties" that often end up as leaders of our government. A lot of people are very intelligent with high IQ's and pristine education but have absolutely NO down to earth, homespun, common sense that has always been basic in American success.

You are absolutely NOT a dummy! Isn't it good to know that cars test so thoroughly so we are safe : ) PHEW!

I'm sure glad they are using these Crash Test Dummies now instead of the monkeys like they used to - man's slowly evolving...but we still have a long ways to go when it comes to treating our fellow animals with compassion and respect!

Ginny, unfortunately it doesn't snow where I live, so finding the Gizz is not a problem ;-) thanks for visiting me!

Have a great weekend,
Doris and Gizzy :-)

Seeing this is way more interesting than going through a cheese factory (of which we have many around here). LOL

Hi Ginny, we're home... Had a great time, but it's nice to be home.

Sounds like a great exhibit.... Young kids need to see this --BEFORE they get their drivers' licenses.

Have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy
