Yesterday I asked if you had faced a fearful situation in order to get a picture, and some of you amazed me! You have done much scarier things than I have, so I see I'm not the only one who loses my mind with camera in hand! I also promised to show you pictures I have taken in frightening situations, so here are just a few. We trespassed (only a bit) to get these alpaca pictures, and Phil again was worried about attack dogs. He kept the motor running and we didn't leave the car. Here you see two kinds of bees and a European Paper Wasp that I took close ups of. When Phil saw the wasp picture, he thought I'd lost my mind. I was less than an inch from it. I also got a wee bit too close to this fire performer. There were no barricades and I actually got my face burned from the hot wind of the fire. But you can see there was an ambulance in the background in case I got even more carried away. And lastly, we got a chance to pose with the scariest person ever, Mr. Edgar Alan Poe. Since we have both read his works, Phil was very scared indeed. When we are born, we are only afraid of two things: loud noises and the fear of being dropped. Everything else is learned. But there is only one fear that is truly beneficial for all eternity.
"The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them." Psalm 25:14
"Fear the Lord, you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing." Psalm 34:9
"He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them." Psalm 145:19
"The Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love." Psalm 147:11

Hi Ginny, There's not too many things I am afraid of. BUT---seeing kids near the edge of a cliff or bluff really bothers me. Today we went to Fall Creek Falls and there were lots of people around... Adults allowed kids to roam free ---so close to the edge... I had to walk away... Talk about SCARY!!!!!
Great post.
Hugs,
Betsy
scary thing is when we can not do anything,..
I hate heights, Ginny, and a trip to the Grand Canyon a few years ago just about had me coming unglued at one point. Cliff + daring daughter + heightphobic mom = a recipe of a mommy meltdown. Later, I did get some great GC pictures but I was a healthy distance from the edge.
Now about those alpacas. Are they REALLY pink??? They are so cute.
Those are great shots of the alpacas, I would have been right up at the fence for those. The baby one would have really drawn me in.
You already know how I feel about bees and bugs, the closer the better. Edgar Allan Poe is the writer who got me hooked on horror stories. I was listing to a reading on one of his stories the other day by Vincent Price, chills & shivers.
I can't think of a lot of things that scare me except maybe the edge of cliffs.
The alpacas stayed very still for you,
Usually I am more afraid of people shouting," Hey, what you shooting for?"
The Alpacas have such cute faces, surely they would not hurt you.Love the bee pictures as well.
Blessings,Ruth
I love Poe! Was that photo taken in Richmond? There's a house/museum there that we toured although I can't remember his connection to Richmond. I have been to the spot where he wrote "The Goldbug". It's on Sullivan's Island in Charleston, S.C. They do the spookiest ghost ride extravaganza every Halloween. No children allowed and it is VERY frightening. I didn't have a camera then!!
Best,
Bonnie
I got so caught up in the first two phoos i could hardly stand to scroll down. for them i would do a little danger. the second one is laughing at you. adorable
I don't have any photos to show that I was scared while taking them. I read Edgar in school and I am wondering if some of my fears came from those horror stories.
God gives you the courage, Ginny! u r really bold.. i m not.. :)
Ginny, what is your email again? can u drop me a line at reanact(at)gmail.com? thanks!
The alpacas are really cute but the thought of the attack dogs...that's scary. And getting that close to the fire performer will send shivers down my back. You're lucky!
I think that you are a true artist. One must always suffer for art.
I've always been afraid of falling. Probably because I did it a lot as a kid and I hate that feeling of going down, down. But bees and bugs - you know I love them.
I'm glad you overcame your fears to get these pictures. The alpacas are cute. I'm not sure I would be brave enough to get a picture of the wasp.
Love your photo of the baby alpacas - those will make nice sweaters, lol! You are one adventurous photographer. The close-up shots of the bees/wasp are just great. It's good to have a healthy fear of things that could harm us and yet we can proceed with caution and calm. I don't mind heights, but people, especially kids, getting too near the edge just gives me the jitters!
Have never yet read a horror story or watched a horror movie and don't think I've missed much, lol! Good photo of you both - holding hands for security, lol!!
So true. One of the nicest things about putting our trust in the Lord is that we need fear nothing except the Lord.
You did good, my friend! Great shots!
The Alpacas are so precious. their faces just make me want to hug them.
I'm not wild about heights either. My legs get all rubbery. Now snakes are my biggest phobia. They make me just crawl.
The alpacas look so happy! I would not be afraid of them. I take close up photos of bees but I try not to disturb them. I do try to take all wildlife photos from the safety of my car and I never trespass.
I agree with Betsy that people who allow their children to take chances climbing on cliffs and bluffs or over waterfalls is upsetting to me. We saw that happen in the Grand Canyon and in Yellowstone.
I'm quite allergic to alpaca so getting that close to some would be scary to me ...
Your new header photo is beautiful!!
I am fearful of anything hurting my girls.
Hi there Ginny..I just saw your post- I love all your captures! My boldness scares myself (lol)..those Alpacas are so soft and pretty!!
Fear..while these scriptures are so reasonable and comforting to me, still somehow they are either misunderstood or taken out of context for many others? He is completely trustworthy! Maybe the problem lies with seeing things through our eyes rather than His?
Oh sweetie, what a fantastic post! I have a totally embedded fear of storms so you'll never see me out there takin' tornado pics! Other than that this farm chick is game for most anything!
Ya'll have the most beautifully blessed 'fall' day now, ya hear!!!
I used to live in fear...all the time...couldn't close the lights but lived in the dark....Now when I'm afraid....I know He'll come through somehow. Things that I'm still afraid of are someone hurting my kids. :(
I love your blog and your analogies, and I really love those first two pictures. I'm not scared of those bees and wasps, but then I haven't been stung by them either. I fear loud noises, always have. I wish I could post my alligator pics but lost them in the computer crash. I think I have a disc somewhere . . . I read your commment on my blog and I am sorry, we just did that too for my Mom in law. God bless.
Hi Ginny, The Alpaca's a so cute - worth photographing and the bit of this and that to get to take those pics.
The post was an excellent tie-in with the Scripture.
Have a very nice day tomorrow!
I'd like people to think I'm afraid of nothing. There are some things that cause me to be careful. I usually say of snakes, "I'm not afraid of them - but I respect them enough to keep my distance." I feel the same way about high voltage. I also don't like to watch Halloween movies - especially the science fiction genre. Psalm 56:3 "What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee." One of my favorite verses. I think generally people fear "the unknown"...like death.
Ginny - you have so many wonderful comments here - they love you.
Your pictures are so cute - and such a variety.
You lead an interesting life girlfriend.

These photo's are great! And your post is so timely... I was just talking to someone today about 'the fear of the Lord' Thanks for sharing :)
Hights and fire, both scare me! Almost nothing scares my 3 boys; and that too scares me! LOL
Great Post, Ginny!!
Have a wonderful week!
Hugs,
Coreen
