Unfading Beauty

"All things bright and beautiful
All creatures great and small
All things wise and wonderful
The Lord God made them all
He gave us eyes to see them
And lips that we might tell
How great is God almighty
Who has made all things well

I took these pictures of a Tiger Swallowtail this past spring when our lilac bush was in bloom. He flitted around from bloom to bloom for quite some time. So very beautiful, but here is something that is even more beautiful to God.

"Your beauty should not come from outward adornment...Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight." 1 Peter 3

What a wonderful look back at spring Ginny. The swallowtail on the lilacs is a beautiful sight. And I love that poem.

Truly the most radiant beauty comes from within. Nothing external can make a bitter person pretty! Not long ago I learned the rest of a small adage I'd heard most of my life on the subject of beauty. "Beauty is only skin deep,
Ugly is to the bone
Beauty fades away
But ugly holds it's own!"

When God can take care of all the animals, the birds and the fishes, He can surely take care of us...

Beautiful, soft colours, Ginny. Scrolling down this post I was wondering whether you have lilacs in bloom NOW, but then you answered that at the bottom... Yes, it's good to look back sometimes... :)

Beautiful. I've been trying to get photos of all the varieties of butterflies hovering around our butterfly bushes but they are too fast for me...I must be slow on the draw.

Beautiful! The detail is amazing. I'm impressed with the crispness (is that a photography term?) in the photo on your header--the leaves, the flower and the butterfly--are all seemingly perfect!!

Best,
Bonnie

I love your photos of the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail... perhaps I will post the pictures I took at the botanical garden of the caterpillar that is the precursor....

Of course my favorite verse to go with the caterpillar would be Romans 12:2 ~ Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

These are beautiful pictures of the butterfly. You did a wonderful job of capturing it as it flitted around your bush. Thanks for sharing the hymn as well.

I have not seen a lilac flower so close up, thanks Ginny. The first time I saw them in Canada, I really loved them.

Every morning, my son and I make a warm 1/2 a lemon plus one tablespoon Active Manuka Honey drink before I drink or eat anything else. People tell me this is good. If the tree runs out, I substitute this with apple cider.

I still get my fair share of colds and flus, so I don't know if this is any good.

I do not cook with my lemons. I think it is during the winter months when I don't have fruits.

Woops..that is a nice verse and hymn too..I'm sure I remember the latter being in one of the childrens story books we had?

Ginny I love taking photos of butterflies but so often they will not agree to pose so well for me! Your lilac bush must have been very attractive to this beautiful Tiger Swallowtail and he did not want to fly away! :)
Beautiful photos!

Hi Ginny, Love how you mix your photos with snippets of your observations and close with an on-target scripture. You really do see God in your everyday life and share it so well. Good eye; good heart! And thanks for visiting my blog.

@srp- Romans 12: 1-2 was my "strong tower" during the challenges of my own caterpillar stage during the teenage years (many years ago!). God is faithful!

Beautiful pics of springtime!!

Don't you wish people really believed that Scripture? It's disturbing to see so many of our young people growing up so focused on trying to be beautiful by following the world's ever-changing standards. And I'm in no way trying to say we shouldn't do our best to look our best!
