All Booked Up

I find television to be very educating.  Every time somebody turns on the set, I go in the other room and read a book.  ~Groucho Marx

How would you like a room where all the wood furniture is made from books? Pretty neat, huh? Also a good way to use all the books we have ever read. I found these in an Art Warehouse. Which one would you like to have?

Good idea! We have about 70 years of National Geographics we want to get rid of. Maybe we should reconsider and just make a coffee table. :)

I think that I liked the book table at the top best! Joan

I like the one in the header best but they are all really cool, and what a great way to recycle old books that are ready for the trash pile. i like Jeanne's idea of using the natl Geographic.. people amaze me with the ideas they come up with.. i am only a copy cat... i can do it if someone else has the idea..
no books in our house though, i donated them to the library.. only Kindle reading here. and 7 Bibles.. and a dictionary.. and of course the dreaded little manuals that come with geek toys

I like the rectangular table with the glass top. The round one looks like it would be a nightmare to dust! A great idea, though.

You just never cease to amaze me. You find the coolest things. I would love that table. What a conversation piece that would be!

My favorite is the round coffee table. The tall art is too much - a dust catcher only, maybe? - and the rectangular table really bothers me because they CUT the books! If it was good enough to want to display the title, then why not share or read again? Don't destroy it! Sorry to be negative - the photos are great. :o)

Gosh my first thought and I have to be honest - what a waste of books - then as I got thinking - I think I wouldn't mind the round table - you find the most unusual things - I love them. sandie

I would choose the one in the header, but it would drive me crazy. I would want to read or reread the "building blocks."

I would enjoy this furniture for viewing somewhere other than my home. That way I could avoid the temptation to dismantle furniture and read, read, read. Your blog was the perfect place for my enjoying the unusual furniture!

I love the round table! How clever! I'd have never thought of doing something like this. I'm amazed at all the wonderful ideas out there.
Have a great day!

Very clever making a round coffee table with books for a stand. It certainly would be a grand conversation piece.

I like Groucho Msrx's quote every bit as much as I like the furniture. Very unique.

Those are very cool and I would choose the first one.

Oh this is so cool! These book furnitures do look pretty neat. I like the table very much. I've seen photo frame made of book and I thought it was good idea, too.

I have seen a lot of this kind of stuff lately.....great idea, unless a person just happened to want to read a book on the bottom!! lol.
Great photos..

Neat post, Ginny. Reading is SO important --and I love seeing adults reading to or with their kids... Kids that learn to read and enjoy it are much smarter --and better students I think...

Love that book table....

Betsy

Love Groucho's quote and the book furniture is terrific.
What a great use of old books.

I'm glad Sandra directed me towards this post or I might have missed it :) I have one objection - these pieces must be really HEAVY! I might consider the square table... but on the other hand, I might find it frustrating not to be able to take the books out to read! ;) This post actually gave me an idea though, what to do with one very old and very big book I found at my parents' house which I've been hesitating whether or not to keep. I'll blog about it some day. (instead of trying to squeeze it into my already over-full bookshelves this post inspired me to find another place for it)

Very Very cool! We recently went and took a tour of a mansion and it had a secret room behind a wall of fake books on shelves. I so wanted to open that door but we weren't allowed! Awesome pictures Ginny! Have a great day!

Hi Ginny, The coffee table that is round and tall is a good one! Funny you should quote Groucho Marx - my late mother was acquainted with his wife (I don't know what her name was as it happened in the early 1940's in Los Angeles - mom was a beautician for Mrs. Marx). Have a wonderful day tomorrow!

I like the last table, did do buy something? I can not do this with my books, don't have the talent and they are all locked up in my ipad.

Greetings,
Filip

Hi Ginny, the mama dog is our granddaughters dog. She is a breeder and she has had her last litter.
The breeder sells them. they are all promised (and bought) so when they are weened they will all go their separate ways.
Granddaughters didn't have to pay for Snicker and all of her vet bills are paid by the breeder.
When babies are gone and her body is back to normal she will be neutered and the girls will own Snicker outright. She has brought a lot of money to the breeder and the kids didn't have to pay anything. Snicker stays with the breeder until all the pups are gone.

I once read that the more books in a home the higher the intelligence of those who live there.

Sunday Sunset

I snapped these from the Target parking lot. The sun had just gone down, but the trees were hiding the very bottom part of the sunset. Life...
