Burning For You - For Sandra

We were driving along this evening and I saw a light way in the distance. Driving a bit closer, I saw that a man had made a fire in the backyard. Now actually this was so far away that I took all these pictures with a 42X zoom!

You should never turn your back on a fire because a monster might jump out at you! Do you see the eyes below? And the tail?

Soon he was putting the fire out.
Not bad for all the way across a cornfield! Did you know there are angel type creatures in the bible called Seraphim? They have 6 wings, and their name literally means "The Burning Ones". No angels tonight, at least not that I could see, but the fire made me think of them. This is burning for YOU, Sandra!

There’s a light in the distance, overlooking a view,
Its’ burning by day and it’s burning by night
 It is burning for you

(My take on an old Strawbs song)

“Keep your eyes open, your lamp burning, so you don’t get musty and murky. Keep your life as well-lighted as your best-lighted room.”

Interesting photos! That's quite a fire there! I DO see the eyes and also in a photo below it, if you turn your head to the left, it looks like eyes AND a mouth!

I'm a bit skeered of fire since our house burned down when I was 9 years old. It has stayed with me all these years even tho I wasn't home when it happened. We lost 2 dogs in that fire and all our possessions. My son always wants to have a fire going in the fire pit when he visits! So, I'm not that big a sissy I guess. :)

In answer to your question about my cats, yes, Stormy is the mostly white cat. And I have to say, she's my favorite, too. She's my little buddy and follows me around everywhere in the house. She even wants to sleep beside me!

Almost looks like the fire was trying to leap out of the barrel.

You're like me...you tend to search and find other images within an image.

Great zoom photos by the way. And the fire is clear! [and pretty...does that make me a pyromaniac?]

thank you thank you thank you... i wish i had been there. that barrel is just like the one we had when i was growing up, but daddy would not let me get the flames that high... did you see the wolf in the one below the shot with the eyes and tails? so you got two monsters in yours and i only got a little man.
i tried burning pork rinds yesterday after reading on chatty crones about starting a fire with doritos, you know what will be next...

We can't even begin to think of fire here - we in the highest fire hazard season just like last year, although we've had 3 rain storms in July which is unheard of.
