Anne Marie's mom bought her this wreath of streamers at one of the many vendors. And of course she had to wear it backwards! Then she came to show me.
Unfortunately, all was not well with the balloon crews out in the field. Storms were brewing all around. You cannot go up if there are any storms around, it could result in a disaster. Yet many had paid big bucks for the rides! People had also come from all over, even different states!
In the end, it was decided it was just too dangerous to go up. Anne and I were very sad! BUT they did do some awesome things to make up for it, and I will show you that on my next post!

Great pictures Ginny....These photos made me smile....Riding in a hot air balloon is tops on my "Bucket List"
Have always wanted to do this, even though I'm afraid of heights.
Maybe someday!!
so no balloons, can't wait to see what they did to entertain you. i like that wreathe on her head.. both forwards and backwards. i must have been the only one that did not know where you were. my memory is horrible and i don't remember you going although i must have seen it before.
Disappointment is hard for little ones. I hope those who paid for rides got their money back.
Awwwww, how disappointing. Especially for the youngsters.
I had no Idea what you guys were up to but it looked fun!
hughugs
We have been twice to an annual balloon festival in a neighboring state. Both times were great fun. But II don't think I am ready for a ride!
That Anne Marie is something.
Looking forward to the rest of the hot-air balloon story!
It's too bad the balloons couldn't go up, but it looks as if you had lots of fun anyway.
All these storms have ruined plenty of fun this summer. I can't wait to see what you did though.
I can see the disappointment. Don't worry, just try again in better wetter.
Greetings,
Filip
What a shame that the weather didn't cooperate. Looking forward to seeing what they did
Ah--how disappointing that the balloons didn't go up... But--they HAVE to watch the weather, so I don't blame them....
I'm sure you all found lots of other things to enjoy doing while there. Can't wait for the next blog post...
Hugs,
Betsy
Too bad....but safety is first. I wonder what they did to smooth things out ?
Great photos, Ginny! I have never been on a balloon in my life.
Aw Ginny, sorry to hear they did not go up. Their flights are so dependent on good weather and sometimes Mother Nature doesn't cooperate. I can't wait to see how they entertained all of you.
Anne Marie is so cute in her streamers.
Sorry you didn't get to go up in the balloon! Looking forward to what you did do or see. :)
I'm not sure I'd dare go up in a balloon even in calm weather... ;)
I have always wanted to do this too - just remember to have a great pilot (?) take you up - because accidents do happen - but don't they sure look like fun! sandie
I just thought you meant you went to a 4th of July parade/get together of the town.
Of course I recognized the "castle" right away! Love the photo of you and Anne Marie!
To answer your question: the thinly sliced salmon is lox. It isn't smoked but it's cured. I actually got the smoked salmon on the sandwich at Costco. Three to a package. Whole Foods and Trader Joe's have it and I've seen it at my local grocery store too.
Best,
Bonnie
