The Box

We got a delivery today; a flat heavy box. We couldn't imagine what was in it!

It was a food variety box by Harry & David, featuring their famous pears! No card or name attached.

Turns out it is a Christmas gift from our friend Andy. He is in his 90's and very frail, having fallen a couple times. Since his wife died over a year ago, I have been calling him every night at 10:00, to make sure he is alright. I sure didn't expect anything in return, especially this lovely!

“That a slender wooden tree twig can give birth to luscious pears, apples, peaches remains an extraordinary feat.”

What a lovely gift. The pears will be delicious. And what a lovely friend you are.
P.S. One of the packages that went to the post office was for you. A thank you from all of us in Buttercupland.

What a nice gift! But I swear it is the thought more than what is in it.
