The Butterfly Chairs

We saw these in a garden gift shop quite a few years ago. Now they seem pretty popular, we see them in yards once in awhile. They do look uncomfortable, though!

And this one has no seat in it! What the heck....any ideas about this?

Pretty but looks fragile.

I'm with May Sarton. In fact our apartment has plenty of soul, i.e., worn, comfortable chairs.🙂

That last one is pretty, but they'd stay at the store in my case.

I think it's a designer chair and not one to sit on ... at least that's my opinion!
Have a nice weekend, Ginny!

Very unique but I don't know that I would ever buy one. Like you said they don't look very comfortable to sit in and if I'm going to buy a chair I want to sit in it. The one with no seat looks like it was made to hold a flower pot.

They are pretty but I would think they would be quite hot in the summer time. Also, I wouldn’t want to sit in one for a while in a pair of shorts and stand up with imprints of dragonflies on my upper thighs......

They are pretty, but I think they would make better plant stands than chairs.

I like your butterfly chairs. I have a photo of me sitting in one taken several years ago. It was a visit to the butterfly garden at the one in Norfolk. I often thought how fun it would be to have one in ours.

These chairs are lovely but only decorative I think. Or perhaps one could paint them in a lighter colour?

I think these chairs are more suited for seeing than for sitting.

More for show than for sitting.

Pretty! But only to look at or rest on for a minute!

NO SEAT!!!!!!

I'd say just for decoration, and perhaps taking a photo, of a child, on one.....

Pretty and creative chairs. I agree that they could be a bit uncomfortable. I think the one with no "seat" is to put a big plant/flower pot in. That way the "butterfly is overlooking the flowers,
Love the quote..comfy, lived in houses are just my style.

I don't know about a chair with no seat. I think maybe the designer was having a rough day?? *haha* Or was short on materials. ~Andrea xoxo

They are pretty and i could see using them for a pot of flowers, but not to sit in.

They are very pretty but I agree, don’t look very comfortable :-) My guess for the second one is that it’s for flower pot. Others can be used for pots, I think :-)

Not comfortable looking, but would certainly add some style to a porch or deck.

They have some of these (most like your last photo) sitting outside the outdoor columbarium in a local memorial park here. I think they're pretty but you're right ... not long on comfort. xoxo
