Several of you guessed that this box is for depositing old flags that need to be destroyed. It sits right on a main highway.

Well, what have we hiding here behind the leaves? It's a cardinal, and a very sick looking one at that. But he's not really sick, ...

I have no idea. It is good to have a place for depositing old flags.
It is unique that there is a common barrel for collecting obsolete flags ...., in my country there is no such.
Greetings from Indonesia.
I've seen these.
That's a great idea. Every town should have one of these so that flags can be disposed of properly

I figured that as soon as I saw the American Legion on the side.
I have never seen one or even a photo of one until yours. did not know they existed.. also did not know that emblem on the side was American legion either.. i found out from a blogger yesterday that best buy will take my e-cyle trash, the old computer and wires and speakers and such.. did not know that either.
Who Knew
Cheers
I would never in a million years have thought of that as I've never heard of such a thing as a special place to deposit old flags....
Sorry I missed yesterday's post...I can tell you truthfully I would not have known what it was for.
Yay..I finally got an answer right!
I think it's a wonderful thing for them to do.

Guess I was wrong.
Thanks!
I've never seen one of those before. Very cool!
I have never seen one before but now I know thanks to you. Thank you also for my ID on the Grebe Ginny, very much appreciate the help.
I also loved the flag and saying.
Yippee.. I got it right.
I thank you for the quote. Praying for that in our year of 2021.
Love, Carla
What a wonderful WONDERFUL thing, Ginny!! I've never seen a box like this. Every town should have one! ~Andrea xoxo
Good move as not to waste, maybe they recycle the old flags? LOL..
They have a receptacle like that at one of our local home improvement stores. The Boy Scouts come and get the flags that are left in it, and dispose of them properly. I don't think you can recycle an American flag; there are rules for its respectful disposition. I hate to see the flag disrespected in any way, and love to see it reverenced. Happy week to you. xoxo
I have never seen one of those before. thanks for sharing!
