AH! I LOVE stargazer lilies! Their smell is entrancing although I realize that some consider them too strong when indoors. I love their scent even indoors, though! When Mom was dying, so many -- so so so so many -- friends sent or brought flowers. She was beloved and they wanted to pay her tribute while she was still alive. One day when I arrived for my week-or-so of residency to help take care of Mom, someone had included several stargazers in their bouquet. It sat on Mom's huge square coffee table in the high-ceilinged living room with several other floral offerings. The scent was NOT too much, given the spaciousness of the surroundings. Well, my sister is constantly making a big deal of coughing and spluttering at any fragrance (even though she herself wears perfume). She was already hacking and waving her hands in front of her face and displaying various such histrionics, saying "I just don't DO WELL with lilies." So we moved them into Mom's sun room off of the living room, but from there Mom could not see them as well. When Kay left to go home Mom said to me: "Move those lilies back where they were before." Haaahaha xoxo

I love those Stargazer Lilies, for two reasons. I think they are beautiful , but also they were my dear Jake's favourite lily.
