For The Birds

Yesterday and today were fabulous for birdwatching! Last night and again today, we spotted a Black Crowned Night Heron. Only the third time I have ever spotted one. I had been hunting for this one all summer. It was far away and behind a fence at twilight, so the photos aren't the best.

Then this evening, in the same area, we spotted a Yellow Crowned Heron! This is a bird I had never seen before. It was really getting dark by now.

But this was not the end of our birding adventure! My next post will show you what else we saw.

A bird does not sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song.

I love the aqua blue heron - don't they come by water? Do you have water near you?

Nice shots.
That blue heron is an interesting looking bird--a beautiful head, but strange looking feet.

What a sweet bird the Black Crowned Night Heron is. It looks colorful. I see many birds up in the mountains, and they are right in my front yard, so I don't have to go far. It's one of the pleasures I have here. I'm looking forward to seeing what other birds you saw on your bird adventure.

You must have been so happy to be able to get some photos! Birds move so quickly! I’ve never seen these kind of Herons before. I don’t think they are this far north…or east. We have great blue herons here that have very long legs. They are normally in rivers or on the edge of ponds.
