Here they come in the dusk, all headed for power lines and transformers.
Ever wonder why birds on power lines all face the same direction?
I copied this from various websites.
"Birds experience less wind resistance when they fly into the
wind. The same goes for when they sit on power lines: they are all facing
into the wind in order to reduce wind resistance. If they were instead facing
the opposite direction, their feathers would be fluttering all over the place. It's also easier to communicate."

Love this! Every time I see a bunch of birds like that hanging around, I think of the Alfred Hitchcock film, The Birds. I grew up about 25 miles from Bodega Bay. Disappointing, I never saw those Hitchcock birds there!
Great photos!
That is a great numbers of birds in one place. The facing in one direction makes sense. Dangerous to walk under the lines.
Wow, that's a lot of birds. That's interesting about why they all face the same direction.
I love these Ginny - so many birds!
Love these...I read the same thing about birds facing into the wind. That makes total sense.
did not know this but it makes sense to me. I don't like walking with the wind in my face but it doesn't seem to bother Beau. these photos are amazing to me. that is a lot of birds and I wish for 10 dollars for every bird that was sitting there. LOL
Incredible sight to behold!!! Enjoyed reading all the facts.
Definitely crowded in that neighborhood.
Thanks for the inoformation. I had not wondered aobut it, but now think I should have. I get them every now and then and it's amazing. I feel honored when they decide to spend the night at my place.
WILD photo!!!!!
COOL info.
We can keep learning, through blogging!
How about that!
Oh my word! That is a lot of birds.
I have always wondered why they sit on the wires - instead of going somewhere else. lol
Wow all those birds on that huge pole are amazing.
Not a place I want to walk under..(:0)

Like some other commenters I think of the movie The Birds when I see a lot of birds on wires! Interesting about them facing into the wind but it makes sense!
W O W ! That is a lot of birds! We see the crows in parking lots often searching for food. We're careful in the yard as they are so big and our pups are so small. That is a fact I learned that is something new. Thank you.
So many birds! And that info was interesting.
Thanks for the information I'm glad I'm not a bird!
Isn't that an amazing sight? Interesting information also. Thanks Ginny :)
Wow, that is A LOT of birds. I always wondered why they sat on the power lines. Very interesting, and your pictures are amazing. I enjoyed seeing them all.
