Flying South

Here are some of our Canada Geese. They are here all year, so they don't fly south for the winter. But they do fly around town from one spot to another.

·        Some birds, like homing pigeons, use the Earth’s magnetic field to fly south. These birds have tiny pieces of magnetite, a magnetic mineral, in their beaks above their nostrils.

Very pretty photos Ginny :) one of my favorite sights to see, along with their honking. Great photos with the beautiful pink sky.

Great shots of the flying geese. Very disciplined birds, following the one in front of them.

I find it interesting that they seem to know where the food and water sources are and they keep going there. Also interesting how they fly in single file that way.

How interesting!

Here, we have a few geese who live all year, in our park's ponds. From time to time, a few will fly from the park, over us, to another large college pond. It happens when regular geese, are getting the urge to fly south or north. :-)

Interesting navigation fact!

Beautiful captures of the flying geese.
I like when they fly low and you can hear their wings.

That's neat that you have them year round. I used to love hearing and seeing them fly overhead.

I guess it won't be that many weeks till our geese start traveling south.
