Today was Groundhog Day! I had forgotten all about it till I saw it on the news. Seems we will have an early spring! We have a lot of groundhogs around here. They are also called Whistle Pigs, because of the loud warning whistle they make. One whistled at Phil once, when they encountered him unexpectedly. Here are some of the ones around here.
The trouble with
weather forecasting is that it's right too often for us to ignore it and wrong
too often for us to rely on it.

I rather get a weather report from this adorable rodent than some of the ones on TV , ha ha... so cute. yesterday our local weather had a 2 minute hilarious talk about all the groundhogs, giving statistics to wrong and right predictions. it was cute. we don't do groundhog predictions down here in Florida.. no one knows what ours will do on any given day and we can't tel spring from sprung
I think they are cute! Unfortunately, the one in Michigan did not predict an early Spring...
We are going to have an early spring - however it has been so warm all winter here - it feels like we never had a winter.
They are so cute. We have them in higher elevations. We don’t observe Grandhog’s Day in California. If we did, I’d think our groundhog would predict at least 6 more weeks of rain.
Ours in Michigan said 6 more weeks of winter but we have 6 weeks until the Spring equinox anyway so what does he know!
It sure is a cute little guy.
We have a few around here. I see him often on my way to town. One also lives out back somewhere.
We do not have them in our area. I'm sure hoping for an early Spring though. Even if we had them, the one predicting the TEXAS weather would certainly have to be knowledgeable with weather, since our weather can change several times in a one weeks time frame from COLD to HOT.
Those are cute pictures of them. I've never seen one in real life. Thanks. 😊
They are so cute.
I don't think I have ever actually seen one around here. Or maybe I have but just didn't realize it.
That's really something that you see the groundhogs around your area. I don't see them up here in the mountains. The picture of him standing straight is funny. Although, they remind me of mice or rats, which I have a dreadful fear of.
