The Agony And The Ecstacy

The Road To The Farm

There's rarely a dull moment here, though sometimes I would like one. And this holiday weekend has been no different. I will start with Friday. I have been trying to delay knee replacement surgery with injections every six months. And about a week ago, my knee went out. I kept getting stuck and not able to get up, or bend it, with really bad pain. So Friday it was off to the surgeon for more injections. This one was more painful than any had been, and my knee just buckled when I tried to stand. One strong man was on each side of me to help, and it was suggested to leave in a wheelchair. Not if I can help it! I sat awhile, then limped out, hanging onto my husband and headed for the hospital store to look for assistive devices. Phil said that the injection had hit the anterior excruciating ligament!! Feeling very down, I then headed to the cheese shop for local eggs, only to find them sold out. But they told us the farm they buy from was just down the road, so we went there to get them. It was a lovely drive, then on the way home, we passed this local fishing hole that is privately stocked, so beautiful. We sat and watched as the fish jumped in the air to eat bugs, and some nice people caught fish for us and let me take their picture. Feeling rejuvinated, we headed home, only to find my computer had crashed!! And you know the rest of that story! So many ups and downs all in the space of an afternoon.
"When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider; God has made the one as well as the other." Ecc.7:14

Oh dear Ginny! So, so sorry to hear about the knee. I'm sure the pain must be terrible but to have it suddenly give way is very scary. I know it must be a difficult decision to make regarding the surgery but it seems to be pretty well mastered these days and the people I know who've had it do really well. I'm sending healing wishes and prayers in a southeastern direction right to you. I hope they don't blow you over!! I don't like to think about my dear friend in pain.

Your comments on my photo have put a new bounce in my step! Thirty or forty indeed!! You'll have to add another decade + my dear!!

Take good care!

Best,
Bonnie

Aw Ginny, I am so sorry to hear you are having knee problems. Hopefully the injections will help this time too. And then to arrive at home to a crashed computer, it just doesn't seem fair.

At least you had a lovely drive on the way home. Your photos are great, I really like the one of the fish. It must have been fun to watch the fish leaping to catch bugs.

You are amazing, your knee hurts so much and you didn't go straight home.

What injection did they give you?

Good Morning Special Friend... I hope and pray that you get relief from your knee pain --after the injection. You have such a good attitude about life --so I know that, with God's help and Phil's, you will be fine. But--in the meantime, I know about KNEE PAIN.... Yuk!!!!!

Glad you did have some fun though ---and got to go to the farm... How special... YES---the ups and downs in life are many... It's all about how we choose to approach them. Right??? God Bless You.
Hugs,
Betsy

Now, how did those fish taste?

I hope your knee gets better and you can continue to delay that surgery. And I'm glad your computer is back. Hopefully everything will go much better in this new week. Just don't try to do too much on that knee.

Oh, I can relate to the knee. I'm delaying, too, with everything I can think of. Not having to resort to injections - yet. So sorry that you had such a rough day. The crash really was adding insult to injury, wasn't it?

Is there a long waiting list for these surgeries? There would be here. I'd be putting my name down if I were you. Maybe it's time. You sound so much better.

Very aptly named post and what a great Scripture verse. "When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider; God has made the one as well as the other." Ecc.7:14 Glad your computer is up. Trust your knee will be much improved!!!

Sorry to hear about your knee. Pain can really take one down. I have to admit I often find it hard to quite get in the "exstacy" mood when I'm in too much agony!

Sending you huge hugs (((hugs))) and hope these injections relieve your pain. I think the Lord knew you needed a pick-me-upper and sent you down that lovely road and gave you a respite of nature, He's like that, you know.
Happy your computer is behaving again too.

Hope your knee is feeling better. And glory...I can't imagine not having my computer. I don't always remember a lot of things in life but backing up to my HUGE external hard drive is ALWAYS done. I have so many pictures that are only on my computer. The girls keep telling me about online things where you can store pics...might need to check into that. If we were ever gone and a disaster hit the house even my external hard drive would be of no value. Hope this week is better than last week...may His s

Your attitude in the face of mobility-challenging knee problems is inspiring. Keep up the good fight and don't ever lose the vision that makes your words and images so unique and memorable.

Sending you wishes only for good health, Ginny. The world needs folks like you up and about.

The farm is so pretty!

I hope the injection will help your knee. You and Betsy can support each other, and I'm sure she can give you good advice. One of my friends had the surgery and did so well.

Have a good week, Ginny! You are an encourager to so many - and I hope you feel encouraged by your many blogging friends!

Very sorry about that knee. Considering my friend Sue's experience with knee surgery and rehab, I can understand why you want to avoid the whole thing. Good luck with that.

I loved the fish picture, especially in light of my recent post and the laugh we got over pink reels that look like expresso machines (or was that a funnel cake maker?). What fun.
