Preparing A Place

On my last post I showed you a purse that was disguised as something else. Today I will show you just the opposite, something that is disguised as a purse. Take a good look at these purses. Can you tell what they really are? Maybe I should say what they really were. These were all made from regular, common placemats. My daughter-in-law made them and sold them for awhile. She had so many requests that she could barely keep up with the business. They are easy to make. You just pick out a pretty placemat and sew up the sides. Pick a matching ribbon and sew it on for the handles. More adventurous sewers can add pockets or trim. Viola, not a placemat anymore. But don't worry, we will still have a place.

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. " John 14:1,3

What a creative idea! Your daughter-in-law is very talented, but I expect you already know that.

Neat, Ginny. Your daughter-in-law is very talented... I can see why she sells those purses...

Your scripture is so pertinent now since we have several blog friends whose hearts are heavy now.... They need our love and prayers.

Hugs,
Betsy

They are very pretty! I received something similar as a gift from a blogger I met last summer. She used a red, white and blue place mat as we met during July 4th! It's a nice size to hold library books.

I agree with Betsy. I know someone who is going through a very sad time right now with a terminally ill husband.

I know of a woman who uses place mats to make an insert for her purses. Then when she wants to change purses she pulls out the place mat/insert and just puts it into the new purse!

This is sort of awkward because I know that people get embarrassed over this sort of thing...but, in that lovely comment that you sent me (which I appreciate very much, it's nice to be missed) you called me Ann, but my name is really Kara. I don't put it on my blog very much so there really wasn't anyway of you knowing. :) I commented this on it's own so that you can just delete it and won't have to publish.

These look great and so much fun to carry - if I carried a purse! I'm going to pass this idea on to my sewer friend Linda. You have a very talented daughter-in-law!

Thanks for the verse! I have 3 dear friends who were widowed this month - 2 here and 1 in my home city. That is such an encouraging verse!

Off to work another day!

love the purses, she is so talented. the scripture has tears of more memories rolling down my face. in the photo of my baby brother that is on the post today with betsy's photos, when he was that age, he stood in front of the church and quotes this scripture. i never fogot it and your scripture just lighted that memory.
