Where Is Your Heart?

Now for the answer to yesterday's post about my bejewled items. They are purses designed by Judith Leiber. Many of her purses have been carried by first ladies on inauguration day, and several museums display them. These particular purses are at the Taubman Museum Of Art in Richmond, Virginia. The first picture is part of the museum from the outside front. And the next picture is the display they have specially made for these purses. It takes up one whole room. Each purse sits under it's own protective glass bubble, making it very hard for me to get good pictures. So many of you guessed it that there's really no need to list you. I cannot resist using the bible quote that my friend from MELANGE sent me about this post. I don't think these little purses would store very much, though. Maybe a lipstick, some cash and a driver's liscense would be all. Not being very practical, they are really all about sparkle, shine, and show. Nothing wrong with that once in a while. As long as one of the things in that purse is not your heart.

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6: 19,21

They are so pretty but I can't imagine using one as a purse. I have to have something large enough to hold a camera....LOL!

Congrats on your win Ginny!

I would have never guessed! But, isn't the Taubman in Roanoke?

I'll be answering your smoked salmon question in an e-mail later.

Best,

I thought about purses but didn't see any straps or handles...don't seem very practical to me.

Well, I was right only in one way - they are ornaments, lol, not to be hung on a tree but on lovely ladies! And they get a whole display room for themselves, wow! I'm not much into glitz myself, but I, too, must be careful that I do not put my heart into things on earth even those that are not glitzy! As I've noticed in the nursing home, we take nothing with us!!!

they are not even big enought to hold a heart! very pretty to look at. they would make good ornaments for a Christms tree, buy a few for me please? i assume they are for looks only, like you said, lipstick and mad money and keys is about it. the place i go if i carried one I would not fit in at all. congrats on the 75 dollar CSN

I wish I could find one of those little purses at a garage sale. I would try and get on Antiques Roadshow and sell it to the highest bidder A.S.A.P.!

Holding something was as close I got. Good puzzler. And I love bling - but mostly on other folks.

I think I have seen a few women on TV on the "red carpet" carry these. Very impractical.. especially for all the stuff I cram into my purse. I could do well on that old show... Let's Make A Deal, where they gave out money or prizes for stuff in your purse.

I wouldn't have guessed purses, but they certainly are beautiful.

Hey---I finally got one right.... Hooray for ME!!!!! ha ha ......

I would NEVER EVER use or want a purse like that... I am not a party/dress-up person. Never have been--and will never be. Just put me on a trail in the woods... That's ME... ha ha

Hugs,
Betsy

Lovely and interesting! You do get around..so many place to see but I think it has a lot to do with where you live and where I don't! Great verse and I hope my heart is bigger too (ha ha). I think your header is lovely with that little butterfly..the green is perfect!
I don't have a sewing machine..but I bet with a little time I could make one of those place mat hand bags- that is clever!

I am not into beautiful things, before we left for Singapore, my friend in New Zealand said, Ann now you are a professor's wife, you will be going to lots of dinner parties. You need a beautiful bag.

So we drove to the Oroton bag. I bought a silver clutch bag.

16 years as a professor's wife, I did NOT use the bag once. Over in Singapore, they don't invite spouse.

I gave the bag to my daughter.

I should not be excited, but I am, my church is hosting the Willow Creek summit. I am helping and I am doing the flowers for the lounge area. I can't sleep, been up since 4 am, and it is too dark and wet to cut some flowering cherry flowers.

Your two last statements struck me... " Nothing wrong with that once in a while. As long as one of the things in that purse is not your heart." It is a very strong statement. I am thinking now if my heart in not in my purse... for lately I am always checking new purses to buy considering that I just bought a new one a couple of weeks ago. Though I am not really proud of it... but I just can't help it. What's wrong with me?
