Hanging By A Thread
There are some lovely decorations hanging from this, aren't there? The seeds of this southern magnolia are suspended by threads. Nature's Christmas Tree! This is from Robert Llewellyn's latest book "Seeing Trees". He has taken pictures of the tiniest parts of trees, like seeds and pods. He uses a camera that takes about 26 frames over a couple minutes as it moves ever closer on a motorized shaft. The resulting macros are quite astounding. The closer I look, the more nature amazes me!
God spoke: "Earth, green up! Grow all varieties of seed-bearing plants, Every sort of fruit-bearing tree." And there it was. Earth produced green seed-bearing plants, all varieties, And fruit-bearing trees of all sorts. God saw that it was good..."

Now THAT sounds like one fun toy! (expensive - but fun!!) I feel the same way about nature! xo
Oh, at a glance, I thought it was a "heart" organ.. lol...
Ooh! I would love to have a camera that would do that. The macro photo is excellent, it does like a little like a Christmas tree. The decorations in your header are very pretty Ginny.
Boy, I would love to see his camera set-up. Studying the magnolia like I did this past summer, its truly jaw-dropping the details you find.
Wow!! The things we can hardly see with our naked eye are revealed through the lens of that camera! Just imagine what God's Eye sees! Now that is AWESOME and AMAZING! And by His spoken word He put it all into place!
My eyes are always ready for a feast when I check your blog and today is no exception - thanks for the lovely photos and inspiration!
That is amazing, just another example of God's creativity. I love seeing how God designs nature in such beauty.
How unusual! I had no idea what it was!
i have seen these pods many times, but have never gotten a great shot like he does. trees are amazing to me and so is this photo. now i know what they use those giant ornaments that i see in the store for. i said to bob once, how big of a tree would you need for those ornaments. they look great on that bench. i am not creative, but i can COPY things. great idea.
When you see and read something like this - I just want to know how people cannot believe in God. I mean who could make something like that?
And I love those big bulbs on your bench - so pretty.
Love, sandie
I've never seen the seeds before. Great photo.
Your header is very pretty!
