Pierced

While shopping in a nearby city this week, I took these pictures of a sculpture on a busy highway median. The name of it is "Shugoweh 1". I don't know what that means, but I know what it reminds me of.

“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”
Isaiah 53:5

I do wonder what statement the artist was trying to make! Sure agree with you about that it's reminding us of our Savior who was pierced! You do always find fascinating things to post about Ginny!

That is definitely a unique sculpture. The first thing that popped into my mind when I opened your blog and saw the header was an image from an old b/w cartoon. One baseball character pitches a ball so hard it burns a hole through the glove of the catcher. Don't know why that came to mind!

If you hadn't seen this before you probably were surprised. Are you going to find out the meaning of the statue. I am very curious. Good luck.

Whatever the meaning is, you should still respect and believe in a positive way in your interpretation.

Greetings,
Filip

Hi Ginny, Happy Super Bowl Sunday to you. May the best team win!!! I personally am for the Giants --but I truly just hope it is a good game. Anxious to see some great commercials also!!!

My Goodness--what a sculpture. I tried to find that word, but couldn't find it anywhere. I'd love to know what the artist meant... It does look as if it is Christ being pierced. If you find out, let us know.

Hugs,
Betsy

Not sure what it means either, I google per google there is no such word ...but I decided to add to my google search definition" "Shugoweh - considering the striped pants this statue is wearing and the pierced hand I'm going to declare in my own world it is " a prison of love"...see that sounds just right does it not? Happy Monday Ginny

An odd sculpture ... looks like it should be on a playground or Dr. Seuss story. You find such interesting things around you!

This is an interesting sculpture, and I also thought of Isaiah when I saw your header.

I, too, wonder what the name means, but I initially thought it must be at a church until I saw the striped legs.
