A Wink And A Nudge

Guess the latest game we have been playing with Ella? Tiddly Winks! Did you play as a kid? It was invented in the 1880's. The modern game started in Cambridge University, and then Oxford University started it's own Tiddly Society. I guess that used to be wild and crazy for the college kids back then! The player is a winker, the big disc that presses the little one is the Squidger,  Other terms are Squp, Gromp, I could go on, but you would likely go insane. We don't use all that goofy Tiddly language, we just aim in the right direction and hope for a bull's eye. Ella made the header for you by showing how the winks can look like an animal's paw print, and she is sending you a big smile!

“Is there any god like God? Are we not at bedrock? Is not this the God who armed me well, then aimed me in the right direction?”
2 Samuel 22

I am in the same boat as your previous commenters. --heard of it but never seen it. That Ella is truly growing up. Glad she has not outgrown that sweet face and smile.

I'd play with that cute girl!! Although I've heard of the game forever, I've never played.

You asked if Stephanie was at the restaurant on Sunday. She wasn't but we were there very early. We met her at her former restaurant, Scylla before it closed. It was delicious but very expensive and very small. She used the money from winning as best chef to open The Girl and The Goat. We'll go there to celebrate some special occasion in the future. In the meantime, we'll go back to The Little Goat again.

Best,
Bonnie

I don't know the game but looks fun! Ella is so pretty. And how creative to make paw print with the winks. That's a very cute paw print :-)

We had a similar game but not by that name (which I don't think I ever heard before) and I seem to have a vague memory that we were supposed to land the little ones in a mug rather than a bull's eye. I think the Swedish name for it would translate flea-game because you made the little discs jump like fleas.

omigosh. I haven't seen Tiddly Winks since I was a kid. I don't think I ever saw the game for my kids to play. This is so cool.

I was over at Party City this morning and was looking at all the fun games for kids that are so great for kids' booths at festivals and parties and backyard play.

I feel very nostalgic.

It has been too long since I played that game. I would not know what to do or remember the rules either. Some of the older games were more fun than the new ones.
