The Bachelor

Right now, our fields and roadsides are full of blue Bachelor's Buttons. As to the name, it is said that young men in love used to wear these flowers as a boutonniere. If the flower withered quickly, it meant that the man was not loved in return.

In ancient Egypt, Bachelors buttons were thought to aid the dead Pharaohs into the underworld, and to resurrect the dead. In fact, wreaths of them were found by the tomb of King Tut. I know of a better resurrection than that.

God’s trumpet blast! He’ll come down from heaven and the dead in Christ will rise—they’ll go first. Then the rest of us who are still alive at the time will be caught up with them into the clouds to meet the Master. Oh, we’ll be walking on air! And then there will be one huge family reunion with the Master. So reassure one another

Interesting info about the pretty flowers! It's interesting to read about what people actually believed in ancient times. I'm looking forward to the trumpet blast, aren't you?

Such a brilliant blue. No wonder the Egyptians felt that way about them.

What an awesome color...I have not seen bachelor buttons in a long while. I have never heard of the story of the dead pharaohs but I do agree we will have a better resurrection ♥ \0/

Never heard that name for them before. The English name I know for them is cornflower? In Swedish it's blåklint, blå=blue. Interesting legends.

When I was growing up we had bachelor buttons right outside our garage door. I always liked them. I never knew the legend behind them
