Look through our window. What is that?
Lets go outside and have a look. It doesn't look like much from a distance, but wait till we get closer.
It's a Pokeberry Bush! Or technically speaking, an American Pokeweed Bush. Other names are Red Ink Plant and American Nightshade. I love it's brilliant colors!
You can see that something has already eaten a few berries.
Brilliant colors often mean poison, and this plant is.The berries and roots are very poisonous, but do not seem to bother birds.

The berries are beautiful and look good to eat. Its a pity they are poisonous. Good thing, the birds can enjoy the berries without being poisoned.
Those colors are brilliant indeed! Beautiful bush.
It's very pretty. Love the colors. How interesting that it's poisonous but the birds can eat it no problem.
We have a few of these bushes around here, but I tend to stay far from them.
I have seen these in the past but none lately. It does look nice with berries.
It does have very pretty colors.
anything in nightshade family can kill if ingested, and all of them are beautiful. I often wondered why the birds can eat the berries and poop them everywhere and it doesn't bother them.
I have always thought poisonous when I see them. But they are pretty...until a bird poops them on your car. :)
Beautiful coloring and so inviting to "sample".
Too bad they are poisonous.
Scary...
I think poke is so pretty...specially if just or two big plants have been allowed to grow.
I think this species may be on our property, but the length of the berry clusters may be different. I am going to have to take a closer look. Just loved that closeup, but no temptation to eat!
I've always found these plants to be very interesting. Love the deep purple.
It is beautiful, but when you said a nightshade- I wondered then. Beautiful to look at - BUT DO NOT EAT!
Super photos of this pretty bush. I'm glad they don't bother the birds as I think they would be immediately attracted to all those berries.
This is a new one for me.
