Young At Heart

The moon tonight is called a "Young Moon". I suppose it is just a tad past the New moon stage. I think it is just as beautiful as the full moon in it's own different way. Taken in the Wal-Mart parking lot.

A certain darkness is needed to see the stars.

The Field

Yesterday we drove past one of the many pumpkin fields that have popped up everywhere. This one was huge, the pumpkin field spreading for several blocks. I took the pics from a moving car.

The Secret Revealed!

You have waited long enough for the secret of the pumpkin. It is really a pillow! Only one person guessed it.  Anne from Ann's Snap Edit Scrap.  She is an excellent crafter and noticed that the photos look like fabric.

A huge storm came up. Waves poured into the boat, threatening to sink it. And Jesus was in the stern, head on a pillow, sleeping! They roused him, saying, “Teacher, is it nothing to you that we’re going down?”

A Pumpkin With A Secret

Last week I found this decorative pumpkin in a thrift store.  I have been wanting one like this for a few years, so I quickly snatched it up. And the thrift store price was so cheap! It also has a secret, can you guess what it is? I will show you in my next post!

It has lovely fall scenes all around it.

The world shall now transform into pumpkin everything.

Screech

Last week, we went to the library to see a lady who had written a book about an owl. The Wildlife Center also brought along a real owl. He is a Screech Owl, tiny and adorable!! Come with us!

A wise old owl
sat on an oak.
The more he saw,
The less he spoke.
The less he spoke
The more he heard
Why can’t we be
Like that wise old bird?

Pink Cement Mixer

There is a pink cement mixer around here. I have seen it several times, and finally managed to get some shots of it. I sure wish I knew the story behind it. Wonder if it is owned and driven by women?

It does say "Fight against breast cancer".

The Swifts

Every evening at dusk, the chimney swifts come in large flocks to dive into this large chimney. They wheel and spin for about 20 minutes before diving inside.

This may be my favorite time of the day. To sit on the hill watching the sunset, while the swifts fly so quietly overhead.

Before Roadrunner

Remember the Roadrunner in front of our elementary school that I recently posted. Well, this is what was there before he was. Which do you like the best? I think I like this one, it is so artistic!

Worrying is like walking around with an umbrella waiting for it to rain.

The Howling

In the grocery store parking lot, we heard very loud baying and barking of dogs. You could hear it all over the parking lot. So we drove toward the sound, trying to find it. It led us to this truck.

The noise stopped, and this peeked out.

I have never seen a setup like this in a truck, maybe made just to hold dogs. The dog was quiet now, as he watched us.

It was not a hot day at all, and the dog seemed almost glad to see us. So I got the sense that he was just really lonely, and had separation anxiety. Buffalo Wild Wings is beside the grocery store, and the truck was parked in front of it. His owner was likely downing some wings and beer. Wonder if he could hear his pooches howls? Not wanting to disturb a trucker and his beers, we quietly drove away. A strange and sad encounter.

I Wanna Swing From The Chandeliers!

We have made several visits to the city of Lexington. On this visit, we walked the streets of downtown.

I wanted to go in "The Red Hen" for a bite. But it was closed.

But a few doors down, we saw this shop, and it was open!

Among other unusual things, there were these chandeliers. They were my favorite.
