Sunday Swarms

We came out of the grocery store at just the right time to see hundreds of birds wheeling in the sky at sunset. Maybe even thousands. It was an amazing sight, and I should have videoed it. Groups were going in opposite directions. I don't now how they kept from colliding into each other.

And finally, all was still.

When Autumn birds in flocks
Fly southward, back we turn the Clocks,
And so regain a lovely thing—
      That missing hour
      We lost last Spring.

I have only seen a sight like this once. these are amazing photos in that you captures how many there were. it is hard to believe they could fly without hitting each other. I am thinking they were really loud. maybe blackbirds? could you tell what they were, the once I saw this sight it was black birds, big ones.

Like everyone else said...quite an amazing sight.
Great photos too.
We are beginning to see flocks of geese flying in formation across the sky too.
Saw them last night but didn't have my camera.

That was an amazing photo catch.
I have no idea how you were just in the right place at the right time.
When I go out I always think of you and see what I can see - but it is nothing!
Maybe the birds tried to fly south here and realized they would be cooked if they came here. 100 degrees tomorrow.
Love, sandie
