River Birch

I love it when I come across River Birch. I find them fascinating to look at, with their large strips of bark peeling off like paper. Here is the latest I saw.

Trees are poems that earth writes upon the sky,
We fell them down and turn them into paper,
That we may record our emptiness.
~Khalil Gibran

I've never seen one of these trees except in pictures. They are fascinating and rather pretty the way the bark peels.

they are beautiful, we have them everywhere here, not on our lot but all over the city. we call them paper trees. the thing is they put out horrid allergie stuff and if you touch or look close they are full of ANTS. there is a pond that is surrounded by them, no way to take a photo, its beautiful, but busy street and can't even slow down to take a photo. could walk a mile and take one. clue word COULD. ha ha i did not know these grew anywere but here. never saw them in GA only here

This tree is beautiful, and I love how its bark shows its uniqueness. I love looking at various trees. Your poem is a good pairing also. Thanks Ginny and have a great weekend :)
