It does look ominous, happily it wasn't. Neither Nigeria or the Netherlands, though the latter is on my list for a return visit some day. I actually climbed none of the 3000 Machu Picchu steps. They are steep, slippery and no hand rails. I realized my trying to get down would be a recipe for disaster.
