The Lilacs

Phil told me he thought our big lilac bush by the back door was dead. It is not!! What a nice surprise.

When there is a breeze, the smell is wonderful.

Just to the side and a bit behind our lilac is the neighbor's. It is a white lilac! But the buds are not as open yet.

"Let us linger awhile in the wonderful old Lilac walk. It is a glory of tender green and shaded amethyst and grateful hum of bees, the very voice of Spring."

I love your lilacs - you even changed your borders. Ginny I haven't done that in so many years I think I have forgotten how. Very pretty.

I love the scent of Lilac. My Mum would never have it in the house as she said it was unlucky, not sure where that came from.

Mmm mmm, a beautiful bush (good thing he didn't cut it out, thinking it was dead)

I LOVE the smell of lilac. I've tried to plant several over the years with no success. Yours is beautiful and not looking the least bit dead.

absolutely gorgeous, all the photos are so beautiful. new life coming out of what looks dead... it must be Easter Time... I have no memory of smelling or seeing lilacs. we have a neighbor with a gardenia bush that is almost as big as your lilac. it had hundreds of gardenias. I used to buy Island Gardenia perfume back in the 70's now I have to hold my breathe as I walk by their house.. I always loved that smell and would bring a few inside.
