The other day, we happened to drive by a couple of Canada Geese. They were standing on one leg and sleeping. I read somewhere that birds stand on one leg to keep the heat in their body better. But I have no idea how they can sleep on one leg. They posed nicely for me.
A flock of geese leave
their lake and take wing, turning to poems in the sky.

One of my favorite geese! The great Canada goose has been a breeding bird in the Netherlands since 1975.
Very nice photos, Ginny!
Wonderful photos of the geese. You would think that one leg would get awful tired holding them up like that.
Beautiful photos. It is amazing that they can stand on one leg and sleep.
I like this post!
Very impressive - sometimes I have a hard time standing on two legs!
I cannot stand on one leg very long while awake, let alone while sleeping!
I've always wondered how birds do that too. You would think they would fall over!
And to think I sometimes have trouble standing on two feet!
Don't think I have seen any of these gace! These are absolutely gorgeous photos of them and a couple of them look like pretzels
Great photos my friend!
Impressive gesse, great pictures!
Poems in the sky...I love that...
They sure posed beautifully for you.
Have a great day Ginny.

I had no idea they slept on one leg either. Interesting about keeping warm. They posed so beautifully for you, great photos Ginny :)
It certainly wouldn’t be as graceful, if I tried that. As a matter of fact, i would very quickly be on my side.
Beautiful photos, Ginny, I am so looking forward for the Canadian geese to visit us, we usually have a pair raise a brood. They can do something I can't, .. standing on one leg. lol!
Blessings,
Sue
Pretty pictures today! I couldn't stand on one leg for long, much less sleep that way. :)
These are really nice photos. I like seeing it when they tuck their heads.
Great pictures! I have never seen a Canada goose stand on one leg!
Great photos! ALways so nice to see everyone's different take on each day. THanks. :-)
That's a beautiful quote, Ginny. I love Canada Geese. xoxo
