We got a hot tip about a colony of bats that fly from a hole in the gutter of an old abandoned building at dusk. So of course we waited here quite awhile to see them.
No bats. But we saw things just as lovely. The cut out roads in the mountain behind us.
A robin, singing his evening song so enthusiasticaly that one foot came off the roof.
The shadows of the setting sun on the remaining jonquils.
The windows of our downtown thrater.
And on our way home, the little light-changing tree in our neighbor's yard. With sights like this, who needs bats?
“At nightfall,
colors disappear. Moon's paintbrush has only a palette of shadows: creamy gray,
inky black, illusive indigo.”

Awwww the little robin! So sweet. Often when we are swimming at dusk, we see bats fly over our pool and into the pines that ring our property. TG says they are chasing and eating insects. They're much smaller than I would have thought. xoxo
I just realized that this is your gift. You see things, you really notice things and I love it. Last night, I was outside on my patio, waiting for bats also. When we first moved here, there were so many bats. It was too smoky for me to wait, I didn't see any, and I wonder if they are still here. All animals around here are in dire straights due to the drought and also a very noticable loss of insects. So what would the bats eat, I wonder.
These scenes are prettier than any bat.
I think the color by you comes out at night!
I'm with Ruth, you found much prettier things to take pictures of. 😊
I love this post! That singing Robin is the cutest thing. Would have been something to see the bats, but the other things you saw are so much prettier.
Oh yes, you found some marvelous things. That picture of the robin is wonderful. You can see the enthusiasm of his song.
The bats can wait for another time. Cute robin and beautiful night lights.
Lovely photos! That twilight one is amazing... you asked for my pizza recipe, so here it is...
1 c. shredded sharp cheddar (any cheese will work)
2 eggs
2 T. gluten free biscuit mix (or almond flour perhaps)
I stirred them up and patted it out all the way to the edge of the pan. It was thin. but it puffs up. I baked at 350 for a few minutes until very lightly brown. Then add sauce and toppings.
You have the gift of sight and you will never run out of things to take pictures of and I think you live in the perfect place because you can go out in the evening and get pictures every single day! I love that little tree with the changing lights at the bottom and I love the bird singing his feet off the roof. We saw a cardinal a daddy Cardinal sitting in the bush in front of our car when we parked this morning at therapy and the mama was back in there either making a nest are getting on my last we couldn't really tell. I love the sun shining on the flowers and that all of the photos are really really beautiful maybe you will see the bats next time
Awwwww.... so much loveliness to see all the same. Thank you for sharing, Ginny. ~Andrea xoxoxo
God painted such a lovely evening for you..who needs bats? HaHa since that's my last name, I guess I do...
Love the Robin and his one foot song...

Ginny, first I wanted to answer your question.....Yes, Nel has her Ph.D. and she went to college for many years to get it. She is a Professor of English Literature, and teaches Freshman English at a University. She has worked so hard for many years to get where she's at now. She also watches Mia from home, which is why she mentioned on her post that she feels overwhelmed at times. Thanks for leaving a comment for her. I'm sure it meant a lot to her.
Oh, too bad you didn't see the bats at this old abandoned building. Nel used to see them come out at night when she lived in Georgia. Those theatre windows are so pretty. And that's a great picture of the Robin. One of my favorite birds. They seem to be braver than most and don't fly away so quickly. Have a good week Ginny.

You caught some beautiful sights Ginny. It all works out, what you might not see you planned for, other interesting things take their place. Enjoyed yours immensely :)
Perfect timing on that robin picture. Sorry to hear there were no bats. But you made the most of it.
I love that little robin!
You saw some pretty sights - better than bats. :)
The bats love the dark skies. we get them this time of year. Around 8 P.M. They fly over head and really put on a show and than disappear into the trees.
Awwww the little robin! So sweet.
