I’ve seen them a few times on mountain roads where there’s been a rock or mud slide - they’re working on the road and managing traffic to one lane. I guess it’s cheaper than a flag guy.

first time view for me, pretty cool I think. of course there could be one on half our streets and I would not see it because I travel no more than 5 miles from home on the same streets. on our sunday morning ride with beau we went down a street that is has been several years since the last time and WOW what a change it was
We see them fairly often when road work is being done, especially if there is a curve or hill that blocks the view of oncoming traffic.
No this is a new one for me...usually its a flag man...portable ones sure make a lot of sense...wonder why we don't use them? Oh I know...it's California...apparently we do things the hard way and more costly way. (says I with a boat load of sarcasm and annoyance..(:0)

I actually have seen on of them before! I think it was taking the place of a flag man.
